That article contains several factual errors and omissions. The guy was released after the first rape because the evidence at the time suggested he didn’t do it.

@taiwan_girl said in This is awesome: @Aqua-Letifer It is too bad that most (or many) of the Amish stop school at Grade Level 8. I believe that they won a US Supreme Court law that allows them to stop at that point. Yeah, I think it depends on the community how they decide to do it. Considering what high-school experiences can be in many parts of the country, though, I'm not universally convinced that the Amish have the wrong idea.

@George-K The made me remember reading about another zombie fungus. But this one is with ants. The fungus causes the ants to do a "death grip" on a leaf. But the interesting part is that it had to occur in a very very very specific spot for the fungus to live on -QUOTE- "Most had: a) found their way to the north side of the plant, b) chomped on a leaf about 25 centimeters above the ground, c) selected a leaf in an environment with 94 to 95 percent humidity and d) ended up in a location with temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius. The researchers called this specificity "remarkable." -UNQUOTE- Crazy how the fungus could do that to an ant. Zombie Fungus on Ant

There was a blonde stewardess who experienced the same thing. She ran into another room and got a pistol, ran back to the bedroom and put the gun to her head. Her husband told the woman in bed with him "see, I told you she was nuts". His blonde wife said "Shut up! You're next!!"

@Copper said in NYT guild demands paid ‘sensitivity readers’ for all articles: They both look like green circles. For TNCR to eliminate inequity and discrimination so that we can do our best posting and opinionating, we must have a strong presence of green circles containing X's or H's. We are fortunate to have both.

Zoom is also easier to get on-boarded with, which has been a big part of its success. So for lightweight orgs - zoom probably the way to go.

Looks like every country would increase in size (or stay the same) except Russia and Canada.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Beethoven was an above-average composer: As Ax would say, if the author doesn't like Beethoven, he can always write his own symphonies. Oh sorry, he's a musicologist. Of course he can't. Maybe he enjoys the music of Florence Beatrice Price.

I turned it off at 2:24. I saw 6 minutes and said I’ll get to it later. What are the odds people go back when they defer the first time? Slim and none. And slim just left town.

Looks interesting. My (extremely limited) experience of recording in a studio is that it's just about the most tedious thing you can do with music. I hated it.

Thank you. I wonder why yesterday I couldn't get it to work. Anyhow, it looks like I replaced the link with the one from the Trader Joe's homepage. I should go shop at Trader Joe's. It is very popular on the west coast. It was just never a store I felt I could do 90% of my groceries in one visit.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Mid-year meeting tomorrow: It's a time-honoured annual tradition. 4 hours of corporate bullshit followed by 4 hours supposedly nursing 2 drinks tickets in the baking sun. The usually shunned non-drinkers in the group become unusually popular, and a fairly rabid black market ensues. Tomorrow it's via Microsoft Teams. I think the drinking might start a little earlier than usual. Like 4 hours earlier. On the bright side, it's Avocado Day. So, there's that.
