@doctor-phibes said in 72 Hours: It all sounds suspiciously like 2008 to me. Because it’s literally the same guy. Peter Schiff. The funny thing was he even lost money in 2008 when the shit actually hit the fan, because it didn’t hit the fan in the precise way he predicted and placed major bets on. I had so much fun with that, mostly on WTF but probably some here too. The downside was that Bongwater Q Liberalstein (remember him?) left the fora right after that out of embarrassment for having gone along with him. Moral of the story: if you think the SHTF is coming, just short the S&P, don’t get too precise about the order in which the blades will touch their first piece.

@aqua-letifer said in COVID: Is the Worst Behind Us?: @jolly said in COVID: Is the Worst Behind Us?: With time, 5+ or so years out, though, right? And also who knows, maybe vaccines are screwing with that. There's a lot of debate right now about vaccines and whether that's happening.

But it does not change my initial comment that states that ended federal unemployment are doing better than those that did not. They are not. There does not seem to be any relation between unemployment and stopping/extension of federal unemployment. (Even saying that, i do not think it was a good idea to extend those benefits)

@George-K Interesting. Thanks for the explanations. Like @Catseye3 I have read some fiction stories about people being killed by air, and (in the books) it seemed easy and the "perfect" murder.

@lufins-dad A friend from Ireland told me this joke: How do you tell the difference between a Irish wedding and an Irish funeral? There is one less drunk at the Irish funeral!!!

@george-k said in WSJ: "Not Demosthenes, but...": Mr. Biden’s confusion extended to foreign policy, which is supposed to be his strength. Regarding Taiwan—a crucial issue with China—Mr. Biden misstated U.S. policy. Asked “can you vow to protect Taiwan,” Mr. Biden said “yes.” CNN anchor Anderson Cooper must have figured this was news, because he gave Mr. Biden another chance: “So are you saying that the United States would come to Taiwan’s defense if—” Mr. Biden: “Yes.” Mr. Cooper: —“China attacked?” Mr. Biden: “Yes, we have a commitment to do that.” The actual U.S. policy toward Taiwan is “strategic ambiguity” about U.S. intentions. The Taiwan Relations Act commits the U.S. to help Taiwan defend itself but does not include a NATO-like commitment to go to war to defend the island democracy. Many people think the U.S. should make such a commitment explicit so Beijing doesn’t miscalculate and invade the island. Was Mr. Biden announcing a change in U.S. policy? Apparently not, because the White House soon walked back Mr. Biden’s words. Strategic ambiguity lives, or perhaps we should say strategic confusion in the case of Mr. Biden. You have to wonder what the hard men in Beijing think of this performance. Does the fast White House retreat from Mr. Biden’s words mean the U.S. doesn’t intend to defend Taiwan? What is U.S. policy? Wars have started amid such mixed signals to adversaries. Maybe this is like President Trump and his 4D chess. Act confused and befuddled and China will not be sure what exactly will happen. LOL

The stock shouldn’t make that much difference with that much beef in it.

Interesting. He was willing to have lunch, but said that he couldn't perform. I wonder if this was after his decision to no longer give live concerts.

What I don't get is them OKing the mix and match approach. I don't have any problem with people doing it, but there can't possibly be sufficient studies for the government to come out in favor.
