My husband's doctor focuses on the ratio as well. He would say 'well this is high and this is high...But your ratio is good so I won't put you on medication just yet. Come see me in 6 months.' This had been going on for years. About 4 years ago, the doctor finally said "Okay, I'll see you in a year". My husband is still not on any medication.

@klaus said in Hypothetically speaking….: I'd enjoy the free streaming service as long as it lasts. If they are too incompetent to keep track of who pays and who does not, they deserve it. My thoughts, too. I paid for Sirius radio in my old car after the free trial ran out, and after about a year of paid service called to cancel it when I moved out of the country. They thanked me for my business, and then never got around to actually turning off my service. I got free Sirius radio in that car for over 10 years, until I had to replace the car.

Just to stir the pot, if I was Rowling, I think I would dash off another Harry Potter novel. Or what would be easier, would a be a fanfic collaboration.

Others have said it. Get Roku or Google TV if you want on-demand video rental, netflix, hbo max, youtube, etc. Both of them have all the apps you'll need. Smart TV is basically like a modern phone running on your TV.

@klaus said in A graph for Klaus, Phibes, Mark and others: So mountain bikers and roadies sit on top of the hierarchy? In their own mind, and as evidenced in the bicycling subreddit, quite obviously.

First time owning my own house/yard. Mainly mulch with a little rake/bag (well, yard waste bin) for the times where LOTS of leaves would fall overnight. I know mulching is good for the yard, but also heard it can lead to some thatch down the road.

@larry said in Bears repeating: That one is just a cub. Be glad momma bear didn't come over... Exactly right, Larry. He was kinda cute, IMO. However, he was in an area of kids, etc. Poor thing made a bad choice. I felt bad for him. He was put down.

AppleTV — because I want to extend my Mac’s desktop to my TV Chromecast — because it’s so cheap I didn’t mind giving it a shot AppleTV is more flexible, more powerful because you can run many third party apps on it, including interactive games. Chromecast is a one trick pony — you can cast media onto your TV through Chromecast and that’s it. I once considered Firestick (also cheap) but by that time I already have AppleTV and Chromecast and I figure I would not have time to play with yet another gadget. I can stream Prime Video just fine using the Prime Video app on the AppleTV. Roku — I figure there’s no point having it unless I also subscribe to the Roku service, so it was never a serious contender for me.

@horace said in Wat Dis?: @aqua-letifer said in Wat Dis?: @horace said in Wat Dis?: @aqua-letifer said in Wat Dis?: @horace said in Wat Dis?: I wasn't mocking the uniforms, I was only observing that they are different in kind from other uniforms, and seem to harken back to frilly outfits for mystics. Mystics had the knowledge. Which meant they had the power. And people went to them to defer to their decision-making. Robes are old as shit that way. Great. See, this is the sort of direction I was hoping for. Thank you Aqua. We've made TNCR a more interesting place today. Judging by my running tally of how people usually respond to my opinions, I honestly can't tell if you're fucking with me. No, not fucking with you.

@jolly said in I did that: We've talked about them already and they're certainly in the news... https://www.bostonherald.com/2021/11/15/biden-tormented-by-republican-guerrilla-campaign-and-i-did-it-stickers/ But I was a bit surprised to see them on the urinals and stall doors in the men's restroom at Sam's Club, yesterday. They're everywhere here. Gas stations, bathrooms, bulletin boards.
