What is the best free online language course?Other than Duolingo, what do you recommend for free online learning for a beginner?

Do you use the library?I just got through looking at your book recommendations and wondering how many of you check them out at the library?

Queen Camilla@bachophile said in Queen Camilla:
All my info comes from “the crown” series.
Having said that, I agree if he had married her instead of Diana a lot of pain would have been avoided. They seem very much in love.
They were banned from marrying? I read Camilla had married someone before Charles married Diana. Anyhow, I still liked Diana, and felt she was badly mistreated by Charles in his affair with Camilla during the very beginning of their marriage, and the press wasn't kind to Diana.

You and Mrs. George are like-minded.
She detests Camilla and is outraged that she will be "Queen." I explained that the wife of the King is always "The Queen." She still wants no part of it
I haven't read much about how the British feel about her. Diana was much-loved and Camilla (or as Mrs. George calls her, "Horse-face.") always seemed like an interloper - even after all these years.
Agree! Who gave the authority to let Camilla be "Queen?" So, she would be next in line after Charles? At one time, didn't Elizabeth say that Charles wouldn't be King and that the title would go to William?

Am I the only one here that doesn't use Facebook?@LuFins-Dad said in Am I the only one here that doesn't use Facebook?:
@ILM No, you're not the only person on here that doesn't use Facebook.
You might be the only person on here that likes Mozart, though.
LOL. I was in a hurry to get a username with the Piano Forum and the (original) Coffee Room - therefore I just put in Ilikemozart. Which, I have shortened to ILM.
I don't do any social media - no Facebook, no Twitter, no whatever the others are called. And, I have refused to do an online video doctor visit. I want the doctor to check my BP with his or her equipment, and other stuff they do for a well visit. However, I realize that in some cases online video visits work for some people. -
Am I the only one here that doesn't use Facebook?Just curious if you all are Facebook users.

Sup?Wow, I was thinking about you! Are you still in the Bakersfield area?

The fun thing about TNCR@George-K said in The fun thing about TNCR:
And by TNCR, I mean "The new NEW coffee room."
In the last couple of days, I've started a thread about the spread of the virus in Milwaukee...and it devolved into a discussion of eyeglasses/contact lenses.
I've started a thread about fanny packs, and it devolved into a discussion (dominated by me) of hawt nurses.
I've started a discussion about a guy who built a trestle for his live-steam railroad in his backyard, and devolved into a discussion about houses owned by mobsters.
And....no one complained.
It's like a bunch of weirdo relatives sitting at the table, and no one bats an eye when the conversation goes off on a wild tangent.
I'm okay with it! I know a guy that if you don't stick to the subject heading of the email, he gets irritated, and makes a stink on email about how I should have not written something that was not on the original subject. This guy is retired too, and not busy so don't know why he needs everything categorized. For example, I think the original subject was answered, and then I asked, "and how are you doing?" That irritated this guy, as he responded that I should have started a different email.
So yes, random changing subjects from the original start of the email can be okay with me! -
Curious about those Butterball...We aren't having one of these, but am curious, how does Butterball make a boneless dark and white meat boneless turkey breast? They take both dark and white meat and "mush" it together, and it comes out beautiful when slicing?
There is nothing online that says how the manufacturer makes this product, just tells you how to cook it.

More masks....Hi - been a long time, since I've checked this forum.
I didn't read the entire article, but what is irritating is when employees of stores we shop at, as well as customers, wear a bandana, that they loosely just tie on, or a gaiter. Neither a bandana or gaiter help as well as a regular "single use" mask. I understand that grocery stores and other sites are pushing sales of gaiters, which people rarely wore in the past!
We are in the PURPLE here in California. -
Chicago?I didn't read the link, however, two states where most of the people coming into California are, Illinois and Ohio!
Yes, they come in for the high tech jobs. -

Why do people keep moving here? The weather? Yes, insane rent.
In fact, they have stopped. I think there is a net yearly population decrease in CA these days. And why not? The only coasters who like it are the imbeciles who don't know any better, most of whom were born here. Very few people not from CA are in love with living in CA.
I disagree with you Horace. People are still moving here. If people would stop making High Tech their careers and wanting to work for the top 5 that pay outrageous salaries, then it would be different. However, with the ability to work from home, I don't understand why the people that are in High Tech that are given at least another year to work at home are staying in the area when they could live elsewhere for less, but their salaries are so high that some stay. I think you know the average salaries for Facebook, Google, Apple, and some of the other companies. People will pay 4K a month for a small house to rent, or they buy a house.
And there are plenty of people coming from other countries and bringing their families. Homes in the area sell very quick. Why do you think housing prices are so high here - it's because people will pay it. -

Lunch ideas?I replied before I saw George's response. Good stuff too, George!
-
Lunch ideas? So far, what you two (Aqua and Mik) have written sounds very good. Salads over here too. I used to be a huge green tea fan, and really stocked up, but doesn't work with some prescriptions.
No Peanut Butter for lunch? I sometimes have peanut butter, and I'm a peanut butter snob, and it has to be Adams Unsalted. Takes more work, stirring.

Lunch ideas? We've discussed Dinner and Breakfast. What about lunch?

How do you edit here?Thank you. I wonder why yesterday I couldn't get it to work.
Anyhow, it looks like I replaced the link with the one from the Trader Joe's homepage. I should go shop at Trader Joe's. It is very popular on the west coast. It was just never a store I felt I could do 90% of my groceries in one visit. -
How do you edit here?I wanted to replace the link I sent, with the one from the Trader Joe's website regarding them not changing their labels, but I couldn't get it to change.

Trader Joe's - Good for them!!!
