@Mik said in What are you watching now?:
Yeah, we’re in E7 now.
It's pretty, it's artsy, it's stupid.

Vapid is the word I’d use. Worthless if not for the hilarity of the Faks.

Been watching ‘Suits’. The plot elements are a bit repetitive and the writers are lazy AF but Mayla likes it and it somehow manages to stay entertaining.
Not the best endorsement, I realize.

Suits is TV popcorn. It got a little weird at times...like
***NSFW content***
click to showBut can you watch it not thinking about Markhle being the Duchess (or whatever she is)?
There used to be a Twitter (Facebook?) user who used the name "Gabriel Macht's Mole."

Just finished The Bear S3. Artful, but did not move the story along at all. Lots of character exposition, but truly artful writers do that in the context of the story. 400 wasted minutes to beat me over the head with things I pretty much already knew. Jamie Lee Curtis should get an Emmy for her work.

Yeah, but one gets tired of all the "artful" stuff after about 2 episodes.
Curtis was great, but what was the point of that episode? A potential reconciliation?

It's kind of writer masturbation. All that stuff could have been exposed within the context of the story arc.
Just finished Vikings Valhalla S3 yesterday. Fun, but like GOT, ultimately the same stuff over and over.

I've just finished Moon Knight on Disney +. One of the better things from Marvel. Apart from anything else, an interesting take on mental illness/multiple personality disorder.

Me too.
The original Ragnar seasons were better. And I could do without the soft core pron.

Again, just like GOT.

Enjoying (?) season 2 of "Interview with the Vampire."
Read the 1st book about a year ago, and really enjoyed season 1.
Season 2's premise has a much stronger presence of Daniel Malloy (the Interviewer) and many, many flashbacks.
I'm finding the "Claudia" sub-plot tiresome so far.
The over-powering presence of Lestat is great.
Great production values (costumes, sets, and post WWII Paris) and the acting is fun. "Santiago" comes off as menacing as I remember him in the book.
Link to videoAs "artsy" as "The Bear" is, much of the artsy-fartsy stuff is mindless filler. In "Interview" it's just as artsy, but every inclusion of the artsy stuff moves the story.
Very well done, so far - I have 3 episodes to go.

Started "Peaky Blinders" the other day. Watched 3 episodes.
Interesting, but I'm not hopeful that it'll turn out to be warmed-over Sopranos in the 1920s. Sets, costumes, acting are all first-rate (and I love Sam Neill), but the storyline seems pretty recycled.

Gave it another shot this weekend.
It's a slow, slow burn.
I ripped through season 1 this weekend (6 episodes). I really underestimated it. Much better than I remember it being. Murphy and Neil are great, and there's lots of interesting subplots to keep you interested.
I'll probably start season 2 next weekend.

Finished Presumed Innocent - ok - started Lady In The Lake. Kind of hard to watch. Stylish but perhaps preachy.

I vaguely remember the book - Turow's stories tend to blur together.
But, I was very disappointed in the double double cross at the ending. Yeah, from a logical standpoint, it could make sense.
But..really? You want me to believe that?

I didn't even get to the preachy part. Gave up. Should I give it a more extended chance?
"Stylish?" See my comments on "The Bear's" third season.

In Presumed, the family never gelled for me. Never bought them as a family.
I will give Lady one more try but I don’t generally stick around if I hate all the characters.

Supposedly, "Presumed" is up for another season. I hope that they don't fuck it up - again.
In more hopeful news - "Silo" is coming in November. I enjoyed it - as well as the book(s).

We could use more Better Call Saul.
I have been watching Breaking Bad lately. I've watched it a couple times.
