What is the critical race theory definition?
Key tenets of the theory mostly agreed upon by proponents are that racism is a common experience faced by people of color in the United States, that it is institutional in the U.S. and that it benefits whites. The theory examines systemic racism as a part of American life and institutions and how it can give white people an advantage....yeah, what’s to object to about that?

The problem is the messaging with which it is presented - as if it's true thing to be learned about and believed. As if it is shameful not to believe it.

Critical race theory is marxist in origin and devisive in practice. It ensures the raising of social cripples and eviscerates any semblance of meritocracy. It is a lead-pipe cinch to create immense societal backlash and eventual hurt to the very people it supposedly helps. It might even be the genesis of a new civil war.
Other than that, it's okay, I guess.

One hears that a lot, but I'm not sure that's true.
Just because both are bad doesn't mean that one is derived from the other.
For instance, one of the pillars of CRT (or, more specifically, "postmodernism") is the rejection of "grand narratives". But marxisms is a "grand narrative".
They do share the idea of dividing people into tribes and then only talk about the tribes and not about individuals. But you could say the same about fascism, or many other ideologies.

At one time in my early career, if a black doc walked in the room, you assumed they were sharp as a tack. Before I left in 2015, you assumed the opposite.

The embattled school board of Virginia’s Loudoun County cut off public comments during a fiery meeting Tuesday as residents traded barbs over new transgender policy proposals.
The meeting followed weeks of protests from district parents who oppose some of the measures, which they have criticized as potential left-wing indoctrination and a violation of parental rights.
The policies affect transgender student rights, privacy and restroom accommodations and would require Loudoun County Public Schools employees to use students’ preferred names or pronouns. An official school board vote on the proposal is not expected until at least Aug. 10.
But it has become a hot-button issue in the district, where 259 residents signed up to speak during the public comment session Tuesday and people lined up at the doors early to get seats in the packed auditorium.
The first half-dozen speakers were in support of policy proposal 8040, but fireworks erupted when the seventh, who identified herself as the mother of a transgender Loudoun student, was booed after saying "hate" was "dripping from the followers of Jesus in this room" – a swipe at Christian parents in the district who have argued that transgender discussions should be held at home and not in public school.
The board called a five-minute recess to let things cool off.

Compelling speech is wrong in all forms. Interesting timing, as Luke and I drove to CNU last night and had a long talk about Freedom of Speech issues and listened to the Jordan Peterson podcast…
