I have always feel that the best way to fix the problem is to go to the "root cause". Build a wall/not build a wall, etc. is not going to stop people. And I am not just talking about the Mexico/US. Economic desperation is a problem. North Africa --> Europe; Stan countries --> Europe, China --> US, Burmese --> Thailand, etc etc etc

Now, as pointed above, many countries where the people are desperate have very corrupt governments. So, maybe giving money to them directly is not the answer. But, the ultimate answer lay's in solving the problems at the source, not at the end.

There is not enough money in the world to fix the problem at the source.

Doesn’t U.S. demand for illegal drugs create the cartels?

Rival cartels are already way more cruel than anything that would be reasonable to ask a US soldier to do.

Maybe we decriminalize their drugs? I honestly don’t know what’s worse. Unfettered legal access to drugs or the existence of ruthless cartels.

The U.S. welfare system subsidizes the illegal drug business.

I'm sure they are in bad need of a piano store.

Perhaps the gummint will realize that these federal "workers" aren't essential and eliminate their positions saving millions of taxpayer dollars.

That was my first thought. “So you are admitting that these employees aren’t necessary for the running of the government...”

What I thought as well. I'm not necessarily opposed to the program as long as we pay them the going rate for day care workers.
