The city's police chief says the officer who shot Wright meant to fire her taser but mistakenly fired her service weapon instead.
Do you believe that?
I am still reserving judgment, waiting for more investigation and more information to come to light.
-
I absolutely believe that. Watch the video. She announces she has a taser when she pulls her gun, then she's yelling a warning "TASER! TASER! TASER" to her partner when she fires.
-
Maybe they will take it easier on her for being a woman?
-
Let's say that the officer meant to fire her taser but mistakenly fired her gun instead. Now what?
Imagine for a moment the person thus killed was your brother or your son, are you going to look at this one fact that "the officer mistook up her gun for her taser" and tell yourself "well that's life" and let it be the end of it all?
Change that perspective again and try to imagine yourself as the police captain or the police chief, you learnt that an officer on your force mistook her gun for a taser and unintentionally killed a person as a result. Are you going to tell yourself "well that's life" and let it be the end of it all?
One last one, imagine yourself to be the person who mistook your gun for a taser and you killed another person with it. Would you expect to just say "oops" and that will be end of it all?

I don’t think anyone said that.

That already played out near me, they even made a movie about it. Fruitvale Station. The officer did prison time of course. I assume the victim’s family got millions.

It’s too bad there isn’t something in between Murder 2 and “Oops, well that’s life”. Apparently there isn’t. Too bad. Let’s send the video to America’s Funniest Videos!

Shit happens.
Even with people's lives.
For whatever reason, the guy was resisting arrest. That's probably because he was a wannabe gangsta (money and gun waving pictures). Or maybe it's just the current culture in the black community.
Did he deserve to die? No. Did the officer make a tragic mistake in the heat and confusion of the moment? Yes. Will she do time? Yes, probably for manslaughter.
-
That is the question - what was the proximate cause of this incident? It cannot be the stop. Police were doing what we hire police to do. So the question then becomes, would this have happened if the deceased had complied with the officers? Obviously not.
Honestly, if it were my family member I would put at least equal blame on them.
-
So she wants the laws that she helps create to not be enforced. Got it.
-
I'd be happy for the police to be less militarized. The rest of what she said would disqualify her from being elected in a sane world, but undoubtedly won't.

The real question is why is the tweet not deleted by twitter and is she a candidate for twitter suspension?
And also why isn’t the MSM weighing in?
Because pop culture, by which I mean all messaging we're exposed to throughout all media, is dominated by left-leaning authoritarians?
Just a guess on my part.

Obviously, you would tell yourself that your brother or son was stupid for acting like he did.
The officer's gun is irrelevant, the dead guy is responsible for his behavior.
