If we want the best people to become first responders, public denigration of the profession is probably not the logical first step.

Austin has about 60 vacancies right now, with more coming. Even though musicians are now able to play some live gigs, security is becoming a horrible problem.

Cops are not responding to calls in a timely manner, either through too few officers or too much don't -give-a- damn. Nowdays, they mostly call the ambulances and write up the report.

I absolutely believe that. Watch the video. She announces she has a taser when she pulls her gun, then she's yelling a warning "TASER! TASER! TASER" to her partner when she fires.

That's what it sounds like, as soon as she shot she said "holy s***"

Then I think she said "I just shot him"

Yeah that's as clear as day. She says taser taser taser! Then realizes...shit, that wasn't a taser. CLEARLY an accident, but I doubt the mob will start to listen to reason now.

Let's say that the officer meant to fire her taser but mistakenly fired her gun instead. Now what?

Imagine for a moment the person thus killed was your brother or your son, are you going to look at this one fact that "the officer mistook up her gun for her taser" and tell yourself "well that's life" and let it be the end of it all?

Change that perspective again and try to imagine yourself as the police captain or the police chief, you learnt that an officer on your force mistook her gun for a taser and unintentionally killed a person as a result. Are you going to tell yourself "well that's life" and let it be the end of it all?

One last one, imagine yourself to be the person who mistook your gun for a taser and you killed another person with it. Would you expect to just say "oops" and that will be end of it all?

Change that perspective again and try to imagine yourself as the police captain or the police chief, you learnt that an officer on your force mistook her gun for a taser and unintentionally killed a person as a result. Are you going to tell yourself "well that's life" and let it be the end of it all?

One last one, imagine yourself to be the person who mistook your gun for a taser and you killed another person with it. Would you expect to just say "oops" and that will be end of it all?

Let's say that the officer meant to fire her taser but mistakenly fired her gun instead. Now what?

Imagine for a moment the person thus killed was your brother or your son, are you going to look at this one fact that "the officer mistook up her gun for her taser" and tell yourself "well that's life" and let it be the end of it all?

That already played out near me, they even made a movie about it. Fruitvale Station. The officer did prison time of course. I assume the victim’s family got millions.

It’s too bad there isn’t something in between Murder 2 and “Oops, well that’s life”. Apparently there isn’t. Too bad. Let’s send the video to America’s Funniest Videos!

                                          Shit happens.

                                          Even with people's lives.

For whatever reason, the guy was resisting arrest. That's probably because he was a wannabe gangsta (money and gun waving pictures). Or maybe it's just the current culture in the black community.

Did he deserve to die? No. Did the officer make a tragic mistake in the heat and confusion of the moment? Yes. Will she do time? Yes, probably for manslaughter.

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton
