And pisses the entire developed world off. Nah. I don't think that is on their mind. They may seem ridiculous, but they are cagey bastards.

Rumor is it will be cleared by tomorrow so it’s a two day loss if true. Surprised this may be the first.
Iran is likely taking note. Why not jus bomb the canal? That’s impact.

2-3 day loss spreads out to being 6-8 days by the time that you get to the ships at the end of the cue... Ships en route are being diverted to other canals knowing it will add a week or more on to their journeys.
And that 2-3 days severely impacts the manufacturers waiting for these components.

I wonder what the liability is for that ship owner and where jurisdiction is. Bet it’s a Byzantine nightmare.

I suppose there are a lot of industries weakened by the pandemic. It will take some time to work through the problems.

They're talking about removing some of the containers to lighten the ship so that it can be "unstuck."
This is a BFD.

Unless the tug boats can’t get there, can’t they just have a shit load of ships attach ropes to this ship and pull it out? Clearly I’m a certified maritime captain.

I suspect it will take helicopters
That captain’s career is shot.

My understanding is the weather caused this. A severe dust storm with high winds. No visibility and no control against the wind due to the profile of the ship.
