Third Wave Here?
-
Had my first injection of Moderna on Thursday afternoon, and today (Sunday) my temp has finally started to come down. It was elevated to around 100F, while taking Advil, until this morning, and now it's around 99.5, just enough to make a person feel wonky. Aches are not as bad, as long as I take some ibuprofen. Fatigue is finally somewhat less. Chest tightness is almost gone, too. These represent a milder version of symptoms I had in February of 2020.
Several recent news articles have said those who had the virus will get a stronger reaction to the first dose, similar to what others will see at their second dose. It makes me think my mystery illness from Feb '20 really was COVID, as Jolly and others noted in a prior thread.
I think you were right. Put a gold star on the calendar for yourself to note this. LOL

If we got the vaccines earlier this would not even be an article. But now that we have the President we want we won’t even hypothesize on blame.
Hush. There is no cause to be concerned about media bias.
I read that here on this board...
It isn't a problem.
Or rather, it's precisely the same level of problem as "inherent bias" and misinformation in Coke commercials. And getting high blood pressure over the former is just as silly as doing the same for the latter. The news isn't the news anymore and only the media illiterate (and those who already want to believe the narrative) are getting duped. Which, by my estimation, isn't as many people as you're implying. Most folks I know on both sides of the political spectrum roll their eyes at anything coming out of mainstream media.
I respectfully disagree.
Most people's lives are too busy too notice the bias that permeates media. And since that media is overwhelmingly made up of people who are Dem voters (and hence more Leftist) the vast bulk of the narrative is from a single viewpoint.
So it doesn't matter if your news view is shaped by tv news, radio news, or podcasts, when viewed in toto as a single megaphone, the information is constantly slanted and fits a single narrative.

That is similar to my reaction to the first Moderna shot, and I had the virus
Second shot will be 4/1

You can't deny that infection rates are on the rise some places, enough to be worrisome. As much as I want everything to open back up, vaccination rates are not there yet.
How much extra tax are you willing to pay to keep things closed? You will be funding this.

Yes, let's have more people die and come down with permanent complications because Loki doesn't like taxes.

Haha. I’m just saying when people see the bill there are going to be some pretty lively conversations about who pays. Lives saved will long be forgotten, because if that were the real issue we would have double the vaccinated by now. I’m patient, and I can almost write the future headlines.

Well, it is for me, so I don't care what they raise it to.

It seems to me that in the US, the problem is is that the people are are "advocate" the most to open things up NOW, are the same people that are not willing to do the things necessary to allow that to happen.
(mask wearing, social distancing, etc.)

There's a word for those people.

(mask wearing, social distancing, etc.)I assure you it is not just the US. Plenty of those people here as well.

A good word or a bad word?
After a year there is still no concept of a limit or a goal.
There is no way to measure the harm caused by the pandemic, and no way to measure the harm caused to closed businesses and no way to measure the harm caused to children with no social contact.
Just insults
Wear a mask or be stupid
Why? What is the goal? Are we getting closer to the goal? Does them mask really do anything?
All great questions, there is a word for those people with the sense to question the idiots and it is not an insult.
-
I know what the goal is where I live.
I also support it and follow the public health directives accordingly. In fact I probably exercise more caution than is even asked of me.
I know a few people who question the directives and broadcast their dissenting voice far and wide. Some even say the whole pandemic is a fraud and is not really happening. I have a gerund and noun combination for them and have said it to their face. Yes, it was insulting. I really don't care if they ever speak to me again. They are dead to me.

So, what is the goal where you live?
Secondly, what if the goal cannot be reached?
