Yes, I use mine all the time. I don't think of it as a "fryer", it's just a convection oven. I use it to quickly heat up food, without the drawbacks of a microwave turning everything to rubber.

Thanks Horace. Our main oven is fan-assisted, so maybe it wouldn't be worth it. I guess it's smaller, and so heats up a lot faster than a regular oven.

        I was only joking

I just got one. It's made by the "Instant" people - who make the Instant Pot. It looks like a toaster oven, and fits on the counter pretty nicely.

So far, three or four experiments.

            1. A piece of bread to toast. 3 minutes and came out perfect.
            2. Four slices of (thin) bacon (that's a Mrs. George thing. Took about 20 minutes, but no mess and came out perfect.
            3. I tried making potato chips. Putting the thin-sliced spuds onto all the trays, constantly checking doneness and flipping, etc was a pain in the ass. Never again.
            4. French fries. I took an Idaho spud, cut it into fry-size pieces. Drizzle with olive oil and put into a rotisserie basket. 20 minutes and they were PERFECT.

As I get more adventurous, I'll try some meat dishes.

We've done salmon, chicken, and pork roasts with ours. French fries and samosas are perfect.

The only caveat is that it's not really a time-save like the Instant Pot or other such gadgets.

I've only had mine for a day, so ymmv...

For the fries, I took an idaho spud, cut it appropriately, and then soaked in water with baking soda for about 15 minutes. Rinse and dry.

THEN, put into the air fryer.

So the whole process is about half an hour. THat's not a huge deal, and, when you're making other things (as I wasn't today), you can coordinate. Just don't expect it to be ready RIGHT AWAY.

We have one and use it mainly for French fries.

It’s quick and clean and healthy compared to a deep fat fryer, but the fries taste better from a fat fryer.

We just got one too. We keep it in the pantry and bring it out whenever we need it. It's a toaster oven, convection oven, and air fryer in one. Essentially all doing the same thing. In fact, I googled the difference between a convection oven and air fryer... doesn't seem to be much of a difference.

That being said, I did reheat pizza in it (took 3 min) and it was WAY better than the microwave, obviously. And faster than a normal oven.

Haven't tried "frying" things yet. I'd imagine I would need to get the amount of oil added just right so it doesn't burn.

Making baked potatoes today. 45 minutes at 400 degrees.

Not faster than my oven, but certainly more convenient and it doesn't heat up the whole house.

George - I know this is a sacrilege but try some of the frozen french fries in the air fryer. Quick - and pretty good.

Some of the Ore-Ida stuff is really good, even with a conventional oven.
