Never had much luck with cedar planked salmon but will try it one more time. This is the recipe. Have a beautiful piece of Verlasso salmon soaking up the Veri Veri Teryaki now and a plank soaking. Will grill it over charcoal with a little pecan for smoke.

I'll be grilling salmon too, but just skin side down, no flip.

With a pineapple salsa. This one below, except I grill the pineapples first.

I never flip it either. Don't see the point since it cooks through nicely and I'm not looking for a crust.

Ready to go on... but I discovered the plank was too long to fit so I had to get a saw real quick!

Quiche! Getting rid of some small bits of cheese, and a little breakfast sausage. Added onion, mushrooms, peas, herbs. Smells delish!

I've been hungry for quiche lately. Go figure.

Turned out fantastic. Ever My Favorite Redhead, who is no fan of salmon, really liked it and at a large serving! The little bit of smoke really was nice. Next time I will not wipe off the marinade before cooking. Good with the grilled asparagus and a great Oregon pinot noir. Light too, so we have caloric room for some key lime pie from the seafood shop.

Great cook on the salmon. I love the stuff, but overdone is beyond blech.

Corelle FTW. Love that stuff. Lightweight, indestructible. We have a few sets of good china, but we only use one at Christmas

Funny! We had salmon tonight, too. Marinated in lemon garlic and cooked in the (toaster) oven. Delish!

Did you make croutons at the same time?

I think I read somewhere that cedar planks were fake news, sort of like beer cans in beer can chicken. Mik, do you find the cedar plank imparts flavor?

@Horace not in the slightest. The smoke flavor all came from the chunk of pecan I threw in the coals.

I get cedar flavor from my planked salmon. The secret is to stop soaking it so long. 10 minutes tops. Any longer and you are just leaching the flavor out of the wood.

Just made some tonight. 2 filets on cedar, 2 on the grill. World of difference...
