That's the same temperature required to ship frozen steaks and ice cream across the country. I think we can handle it. It's not like we have a choice.

Ah, no. My understanding is most research labs freezers don’t go below -80

That's what the Wall Street Journal says. Where's your info come from?

United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) is one of the providers who is planning to build so-called "freezer farms" to gear up for the rapid delivery of vaccines. There are big challenges, but they are not as big as not having a vaccine to begin with.

I just have to say how much I love watching Cuomo be so transparent about the loss of all the major credit the dems had planned on taking, it’s truly delicious.

Biden (if elected) had better be the best thing since sliced bread.
This is not starting well.

Listen to Biden’s Saturday acceptance speech. “Our work begins with gettingCovid under control... I will spare no effort, none, or any commitment to turn around this pandemic”.
It’s not often you get to skip right over your most important initiative and head straight to job 2. Well maybe he can do it in NY where the gov wants to wait 2 months.

Loki - I think you're underestimating how quickly the population can be vaccinated. We're on track for close to 1MM new cases a week now.
They haven't even requested emergency approval yet. And even under emergency authorization the distribution will be very limited.
Point is this announcement doesn't mean we can take our eye off of managing the pandemic.

Mik - I can't see behind the wsj paywall, and it wouldn't surprise me if there exist methods using cryogenic storage to ship at that temp today but there's absolutely no way your average reefer truck shipping meat and ice cream is running at -91C.

In other words you have nothing.

-91ºC is very challenging.
Saw another news source that reported -70ºC for storage; still very challenging. -

We run garden variety plasma freezers at -30 C everyday. No big whoop.
BTW, Pfizer can crank out 5OM doses in 12 months. I assume that's domestic numbers.
OTOH, Moderna should come in soon.

As for how quickly people can be vaccinated, I'll let y'all know.

Why noy, if it is a possible Truth?
It gets back to the article you posted the other day about making accusations without evidence.
I probably am one of the more anti conspiracy people here. Just don’t believe in them.
It is like the German guy in the World War 2. If you keep repeating a lie long enough, people will start to believe it.
You sure bought the "RUSSIA!RUSSIA!! RUSSIA" conspiracy hook line And sinker.

Breaking news-zoom down 20% in the stock market
I still believe face to face is the best way to do things. I realize that some companies look at the money and think that the difference is not worth it to fly someone out for a meeting, but in many cases, I do think so.
I have fly to places where i have spent double or triple the time traveling than for the meeting. But it was worth it.
I remember a commercial for a hotel chain a while back
"You cannot FAX/email a smile"
"You cannot text a handshake or pat on the back"
"You cannot email a shared dinner and conversation"
etcI realixe that the world is changing and video/audio conference will be used much more than before, but still
