    There is something almost spiritually perfect about a machine phoning another bureaucracy-shaped machine so that no human has to experience the full majesty of the process directly.

    @jon-nyc this feels adjacent to your recurring theme that management's fondest dream is to automate the nuisance while preserving the nuisance.
