You can see the difference just in a couple of hours. That egg looking thing on the ground of the second photo is a propane tank.

You can still use the grill! 2 days ago I grilled hot dogs and let that sucker fire up, it melted all the snow off the hood...

This was a huge win for the GFS (American modeling system used by the NOAA). It’s the oldest of the major modeling system and has been outstripped by the EURO, NAM, and other models. It’s supposed to be retired in a few weeks and replaced with an updated system.

2 weeks ago, it started chirping about a major mid-Atlantic storm and while all of the other models were calling for sunny and in the mid-50s. It was roundly ignored. Last week, it was still calling for the storm while the other models were calling for sunny and the high 50s. This time it wasn’t ignored, but actively mocked. 4 days ago, it started shifting the blizzard north while the other models started saying “you know, there’s a chance that we might see something this weekend”… But people were still shrugging it off.

I’m disappointed that we didn’t see more here (5” that mostly melted overnight), but Kudos to the GFS for giving a Golden -Fuckoff Salute on the way out the door…

            I’m shoveling knee-high snow.

I don't think we've seen a single snowflake in Seattle so far this winter.

Admittedly, my knees are lower than yours but I think ours is higher. They're saying 33".

I have an awful feeling that I live in a mini snow-belt.

Wow. That’s an impressive amount of snow. Go slow with the shovelling. Or just wait it out if you can. Heart attacks can and do happen.

The only thing keeping me shoveling was the hope that I'd have a heart attack and get to spend a month in bed.

I probably shouldn't tempt fate - I've got a fair bit left to do tomorrow.

I’m pretty good at stopping every couple of minutes to catch my breath. I’ve got another hour or so to do tomorrow. Today I did the front walk, tomorrow I’ll dig the car out from the tip of the driveway. I purposely didn’t put it in the garage because that would mean shoveling the entire driveway. Next year iim getting a snow blower.

Snow blowers are great, but if the snow is heavy enough it clogs it quickly. Still, better than back breaking shoveling, but the best snow is the very dry and fluffy snow when temp is near zero. Also storage space (and keeping stale gas out) can be a PITA. But again... better than breaking your back during a blizzard. Good workout though!
