We’ve had 16” so far with a little less than 2 more coming though it’s supposed to be done at 2pm.

What makes it worse than last time is most of it came overnight. Last time I could shovel every few hours to keep it manageable but this time I’ll be going out with a shovel attacking a foot and a half of snow.

Some photos. Not very clear because my screens have snow stuck on them.

I used that grill Saturday night.

Wow. And I was bitching about the 1" we got overnight. It already melted off the driveway.

        Wow. Impressive snowfall.
It hit 18 degrees here yesterday and we didn't bother putting the heating on. We have crocus showing colour

Holy wow on your snow pictures! The current state of snow in my yard in Montana. It’s supposed to hit 45 degrees today. 😬

Thanks for that. With windchill it's currently -19C out here. No crocuses to be seen. In fact, there's nothing to be seen.

              It's actually quite unpleasant.

Wow ya'll got walloped more than I even expected. Depending on future temps over the next 72 hours, you might be better off just shoveling later as it melts with the sun. If you expect freezing rain of any sort, I'd highly suggest shoveling out at least a basic path to walk/drive so it doesn't become ice-crete. Either way, that is clear and present heart attack snow, be careful!

@jodi here is my view right now. I actually just went out about a half hour ago and installed that green bird feeder (really hard to see in the picture, it's left of the bluebird birdhouse which is used by every bird except blue birds... mostly black capped chickadees and woodpeckers later in the spring).

Our office just closed for the second straight day. I think it's the first time in 23 years they've done that.

Your N.E. made the UK news. You're getting up to 2inches of snow per hour and up to 70mph winds.

Well, it could be worse....... or maybe not. LOL

Scenes from the 1888 NY blizzard. (Note: I did not take these. 555)

New York City and the East Coast are preparing for another historic storm, but at least they won’t have to rely on horse-drawn carriages to clear all the white stuff.

I believe that blizzard is a primary reason why utilities are buried in NYC as is the subway system.

You can see the difference just in a couple of hours. That egg looking thing on the ground of the second photo is a propane tank.

You can still use the grill! 2 days ago I grilled hot dogs and let that sucker fire up, it melted all the snow off the hood...

This was a huge win for the GFS (American modeling system used by the NOAA). It’s the oldest of the major modeling system and has been outstripped by the EURO, NAM, and other models. It’s supposed to be retired in a few weeks and replaced with an updated system.

2 weeks ago, it started chirping about a major mid-Atlantic storm and while all of the other models were calling for sunny and in the mid-50s. It was roundly ignored. Last week, it was still calling for the storm while the other models were calling for sunny and the high 50s. This time it wasn’t ignored, but actively mocked. 4 days ago, it started shifting the blizzard north while the other models started saying “you know, there’s a chance that we might see something this weekend”… But people were still shrugging it off.

I’m disappointed that we didn’t see more here (5” that mostly melted overnight), but Kudos to the GFS for giving a Golden -Fuckoff Salute on the way out the door…
