But likely between 8-10. So everyone is stocking up expecting no food, electricity, or plumbing for 8 weeks…

I wonder if we're in for a repeat of 2015. That would be great.

Seems like a heck of a storm that'll bring lots of snow to... lots of the country from Texas up to NY. Seems like @aqua-letifer 's home town in the western Maryland panhandle and WV and PA will get some of the peak levels.

My windchill right now is -35, supposed to hit -37 at 2am. The schools have a rare canceled school day tomorrow because of it, I think their policy is anything under -30. Wimps.

Sometimes it's easy to forget how cold -35 is. Not really, but nonetheless if you think about it, the temp has to RISE 60 DEGREES before you even hit the point where water begins to not freeze.

I miss getting 6" of snow; it was so easy making a snowman back in the 70's. Now we get an inch, a couple of times each winter, such is the effect of global warming.

I think we might feel the same way next week.

And my 23 year old son is going to be spending the weekend snowed in with his GF in Newport News while his 53 year old father farther will be shoveling snow…

Yeah I'll be shoveling our walk and around my car (which I park on the street despite having a garage - long story). My plan is to do it every few hours so I don't have a heart attack it doesn't pile up too much.

I’m grabbing a few tarps today. Plan to lay them on the sidewalks Saturday night, and every few hours toss the accumulated snow into the yard… Will still need to dig out the cars, but will cover them as well.

People in Quebec often tent their vehicles, then pole off the accumulations. I’ve never done this, but my vehicle has only been buried twice.
