If Vance carries the Trump water in 2028 I might vote for a democrat (Newsom) for President for the first time. Really though, I'll vote for whoever is more serious about tackling our crippling debt interest payments that'll self-pwn our country by the mid-30s, I think.

Not sure what it'll mean to you that he carries Trump's water, but his communication style will certainly be different, and I trust that his ethical boundaries will be different as well.

If the country is doing well in 2028, the refreshing change to an adult style leader who will carry on with mostly the same policies will be a tough combination to beat.

Or if the left is correct in the prediction that Trump will be an objectively measurable disaster, then Vance won't win anyway.

That is a good post, fair points. I guess I meant if Trump is somehow the puppet master then Vance would be a no-go for me. Otherwise your analysis makes sense.

I'm guessing/hoping Vance will try and divest himself of Trump's malignancy once he becomes a lame duck in a year or so. How to do that without upsetting his base might be an interesting challenge.

Just like one should not have expected "Trump would be different," I also do not think it wise to expect "Vance will be different."

I'm just hoping for the best whoever gets elected. I find it hard to believe that things will get worse than they are currently, but I've been wrong before on that count.

No I don't think he's afraid to say he doesn't like Nazis. I don't think he's afraid to say he likes Jews and Israel. His boss sure isn't.

Different calculations. He seems to be far more hesitant than his boss is about alienating any part of the right.

Being against Hitler would be a political liability, but being against the Holocaust is just fine. Interesting "calculation". Trying to preserve the more measured Hitler fans on the right, who actually thought the Holocaust crossed a line?

@jon-nyc I think it was somewhat calculated. President Trump has no filter and whatever he thinks, he posts. I dont believe that VP Vance is the same. More like President Obama, where everything is carefully thought out before saying anything. Very little "off the cuff" stuff.
