Maybe a result of self-selection on the supply side: the news publishers whom you consider "right leaning" have mostly chosen not to be on Apple News.

      It has the WSJ too.

But I suspect Ax is right. Whomever pays gets on.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

You are both wrong. Apple actually pays them to use the content.

Apparently they share Apple News + revenues (the subscription service).

On the free app they can sell their own ads in their stories and keep 100% of the revenue but don’t get paid.

If they let Apple sell the ads, Apple gives them a cut.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

Don't think I've ever opened the Apple News thing once, so I'm not sure.

I do enjoy this iPhone 17 pro btw. Great battery, feels nearly the same as my iPhone 12 (I was expecting it to feel bigger/heavier), and the iOS 26 updates are really quite nice overall. The camera zoom is absolutely incredible and I just discovered today the ability to "clean up" a photo by selecting a person in it and making them disappear, back-to-the-future style. Like if you have a random stranger you'd rather not have standing there.

In IOS 27 maybe that will work with clothing. So you could make some random person naked in your photo.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

I just purchased my first Apple Watch. The Ultra 3 in black with the titanium band. I made a watch face using my photograph of M42. It will make a kaleidoscope of any image and it animates it too.

Also have some high end watch faces like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Tag Heuer, Breitling.

I went all in and also purchased a pair of the new Air Pod Pro 3 earbuds. The active noise cancellation is next level good. Starting to warm back up to the Apple infrastructure. Working for a Apple Premiere Partner is 100% to blame. lol

Apple removed ICE tracking app from the AppStore following request from the Trump administration:

                      https://www.npr.org/2025/10/03/nx-s1-5561999/apple-google-iceblock-app-removal

Google has also removed similar apps from its PlayStore.
