If it was a Dem held Senate in 2016, what would have been the results?

Or Biden/Dem Senate in 2024? Mark my words...

Yeah, all the excuses in 2016 were ill conceived and regrettable. They should have just said “we have the power to block any appointment and we are going to use that power in the interest of those voters that elected us.”Today they should say”we have the power to appoint a nominee and we are going to use that power in the interest of those voters that elected us.”
Senate elections have consequences.
Very wonky article but has a lot of history and facts behind it

Good article indeed, and when you consider it was written 6 weeks ago it seems prescient.
Someone commented, referring to RBG’s alleged dying wish about delaying the nomination and vote that, if she were that concerned about the nomination, she should have stepped down when Obama was president.
But we all knew that Clinton was going to win, didn’t we?

Nominating SCOTUS judges is one area where even you jon concede that Trump is not necessarily terrible compared to the other side.

She has my respect, but that respect does not encompass dying wishes for how government shoud proceed.

As I said earlier, and as I said when Trump was running for President, her interjection of her personal opinions into politics cost her a lot of respect points in my book.
A jurist should respect the law and constitution, as written. To say that you're thinking about leaving the country if OrangeMan wins, in one statement, undermined any credibility she had.

The country is about to decide which path it wants to take. Packing the court 6-3 prior the election would seem surreal if Trump is slaughtered election night.

Never heard that term. It's perfect.

where does court packing end? Is there an upper limit in the constitution? I should google it.

There is not.
I suggest 350MM members.

This is the guy who just lost his Senate primary, isn't he?

[tangent] Before the Internet access is ubiquitous, there were logistical arguments to favor representative democracy over direct democracy; now it's down to our own shortcomings. [/tangent]

You want to nominate judges? Win the election - you get 4 years to nominate them - not 3.5 years, 4 years.
You want to block the nominations? Control the senate.
It's not that complicated.

So if he doesn't hold a vote, then you won't attempt to pack the court.
Is that it?
You want to put that in writing?
