Yeah I don't really get the Mexican flags there. Not exactly imagery you want to associate with your home country.

I doubt it's illegal immigrants protesting, it's just too dangerous. I imagine it's mostly American progressives 'resisiting'. Anyway I agree they're hurting their cause and doing Mexicans here no favor.

This is also the natural resort of relatively weak immigration policies for decades.

It's minor in comparison yet, but reminds me a bit of the cathartic protesting you saw in Trump's first term with the woman pink hat scream fest thing and later BLM... people looking for a way to physically vent outside of the ballot box against policies they don't like.
