Overlooked?

What absolute bollocks, although well written (fun to read). To start, it wasn't even a SOTU speech, but I suppose that's nuanced.
The author sucks up every Trump lie as if it was the truth.
Heck, the author reminded me of Trump saying this:
“To unshackle our economy, I have directed that for every one new regulation, 10 old regulations must be eliminated, just like I did in my very successful first term. And in that first term, we set records on ending unnecessary rules and regulations like no other president had done before.”
Again a lie, absolute bullshit. A very thorough analysis of regulations under Trump 1.0 was done, you can read the full report here: https://download.ssrn.com/21/06/21/ssrn_id3871240_code615352.pdf
In short, in his first term he had executive orders of a 2:1 ratio (not 10:1) and further, at the end of the term, Trump said he cut 25,000 pages of regulations when in reality, he started with 185,000 pages and ended with 186,000 pages... he added 1,000 pages in net total. It literally went up 1,000 and not down 25,000.
He just MAKES SHIT UP hoping no one fact checks it. And most folks don't.

"Plants are opening up all over the place"
What have opened so far?Daffodils. Not around here, sadly.

As Trump said the other night, nothing he could do or say...
See my sig. Honestly, plants, spring, daffodils?
Bueller? Bueller?

The problem is Jolly, is that the lies outnumber the truths, so it is hard to take anything seriously.
I know you said that all politicians lie, and that I agree with. But the problem with President Trump is that because he tells lies so frequently, people start to believe them.

I take it that the answer to my question is
Zero. How is construction of the Mexican wall coming along?
-
Yes, good news on illegal immigration for you:
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/03/world/americas/mexico-border-migration-trump-tariffs-deadline.htmlAs for the border wall/fence it's progressing:
https://nypost.com/2025/03/05/us-news/trump-hopes-to-finish-physical-border-wall-between-us-and-mexico-by-2029-vance-says/Of course completion of similar walls in Britain, Germany and China prove the ultimate folly of such an endeavour.
It'll eventually be renamed Trump's Folly

Not necessarily, the border wall in the West Bank went a long way toward stopping bus bombings. But IMO highly visible deportation activity and, especially, raids at employers will do more to stop it. I still haven’t heard much about the latter. Maybe one story in NJ. Most of the big employers of illegals are red state businesses.
-
I think we'll get there.
Right now, the strategy is fourfold:
- Deport illegals that have committed serious crimes, either in the U.S. or in their home country.
- Noem's commercials have a very strong self-deport message...Leave now and come back legally, or if we catch you, you're never coming back legally.
- Border wall and border patrol. The wall is going up, and manpower is being shifted, including the military. Hegseth sent a Stryker brigade to the Southern Border this week.
- Since fentanyl has been declared a national emergency, Trump is putting the screws to Mexico and Canada to beef up border security. But he's sweetened the pot with Mexico by offering intelligence. OTOH, if Mexico had not tightened up, emergency powers allow POTUS to go weapons hot on a cartel.

The border is 2,000 miles long. I believe Trump had about 400 miles of fencing replaced and 80 miles of new border wall. Also Mexico didn’t pay a dime. Good campaign promise though, whatever gets him the W.
