    @Horace said in Trumpenomics:

    I more or less like what the good senator is at pains to portray. Whether I believe it is practical is another matter given the mercurial character of the current Oval Office demogogue. As such, I think Kennedy’s noble quest is futile and amounts to little more than trying to make candy from a turd.

        China announces 84% additional tariffs on US. And orders its banks to reduce treasury holdings.

        We have several trillion of debt that needs to be rolled over by June and interest rates are rising.

        Normally when stocks drops bonds go up - “flight to safety”. We’re losing that thanks to one crazy man.

        Summers called this the first ever iatrogenic financial crisis.

          I shouldn't worry, you're sampling a subset of people who feel the best use of their time in contributing to this debate is to post remarks on YouTube.

          At times, your hatred of all things political causes you to descend into absolute stupid supposed witicisms. Do you know John Kennedy? Ever sat across the room from him and listened to him work a meeting? Ever watch him go through a financial spreadsheet?

          Maybe you didn't watch the video, but Senator Kennedy, who I think almost everybody here likes and respects, believes the tariffs are bad for the American economy. He affectionately calls Trump the dog that caught the car, and he thinks the only way forward from there is to use tariffs as a temporary negotiating tactic. Not a permanent trade barrier.

            I thought Kennedy did a very good job of appearing to flatter Trump whilst telling him to pull his finger out of his ass.

                Kennedy may be right. I don't know. As I've said, I think I have an idea of where Trump wants to go.

                But, I do get tired of banal comments masquerading as wit, trashing any and all politicians. Politicians are like lawyers, they are a necessary evil. And like a lot of lawyers, they are ego driven...I understand that. But any time you have more than three people in a room, politics comes into play. When you're dealing with more people, you have more politics. Without some people who are good at the game, nothing can be accomplished.
