Recently at a Costco in Taiwan. Super super super packed with people. Two stories and it was wall to wall people. The pic below does not really capture how crowded it was.
I dont know if it is still true, but at one time, the highest revenue Costco in the world was in Taiwan (I think Kaohsiung).
Somewhat fun fact - the Taiwan Costco offers alcohol samples. LOL

Same here, we go about once a month and have our standard items we get. Of course we have a family of 5 so a lot of it makes sense. Their clothing section continues to get bigger too.
The lady in the article... I get it, but it sounded more like a self control problem than a Costco problem. Believe me, the snacks look tasty, and I'd love to purchase all sorts of bulk meals there, but I don't because... self control.

Prices are about the same as US. (NT$33 = US$1). I think the hot dog is the only food that is the same as US. The others are a bit of variation.

Used to have a membership but found that for what it was worth it was more convenient and just as economical to shop at smaller locally owned venues that are closer to home.

I find Costco to be very valuable for specific items. We have a list of stuff that’s pretty much it… ground beef, chicken breasts, NY Strips, cherry tomatoes, berries, (fin goes through the berries and tomatoes in bulk), coffee (I can’t find my favorite at other places), TP and paper towels. There’s a few other things we might grab if it coincides with being there, and if I’m in DC I will always grab a bottle of good booze, but that’s about it.
I agree with the author about sampling stuff… if I just bought big bottles of hot sauce there, I wouldn’t have discovered @Renauda s recommended sauce…

Speaking of which, my Yucatan Sunshine is almost gone. I generally don't use a bottle of hot sauce in a year, but that stuff is tasty. I have a bottle of their Tiger Sauce arriving today.

In all fairness, Costco’s are extremely prevalent in my area. I have three that I drive within a half block of every day… Plus, the work has me stopping in Costco pretty much twice a month, and Karla uses the Costco pharmacy.

I just ordered some. Ya'll are liking it too much for me to just watch. I'm simple, I normally put Cholula on my eggs etc... Sounds like this might be an upgrade.

Some people are never satisfied.
Just drop a little cayenne or Aleppo pepper on it. Heat's easy. It's flavor that counts.

They did not have beers but I saw probably 5-6 different hard liquor drinks (whiskeys, etc) had their little sample station set up.
(PS Not sure if you could go back for seconds, but maybe if you rotated through all the 5-6, they would forget you by the time you got back to the first one. 555)

I am always glad I went after I go, but I don't like the process of going through the place. It's just a stressful place. The parking difficulties, walking distance to the entrance, the membership card check, the crowds, trying to find that one thing you thought they had last time but now they don't seem to have it, the complicated checkouts, and the cart check at the exit. HEB is so much more peaceful.

Costco is good when you have to buy lots of disposable diapers for babies/toddlers. Toddlers like to play with those bigger diaper boxes too. (In a pinch, you can put a baby in the diaper box too so the baby won't roll too far from where you left the baby. But you can do that with the bigger Amazon boxes too.)
Gasoline is also cheaper at Costco.
Some popular electrics, when you don't need the newest version and don't need to customize, are usually cheaper at Costco.

You need to stop storing your babies on hills. Babies should be stored on flat ground, it's standard practice.

Between Kroger and Meijer rewards, I always get $1 off per gallon when I fill up. Costco can't beat that.
Retailers around here have adjusted their prices and offerings to compete with Costco. I used to buy berries - I eat a lot of them - at Costco. Now they're cheaper elsewhere.
