I assume he is thinking that this will just be going forward? And will not be for people who have already obained it this way?

(BTW, I do agree with President Trump that this is something that should be looked at)

It won't stand. He knows that. It focuses attention on the issue.

This probably explains why he didn’t put his hand on the Bible while taking his oath. He new he’d be violating it in a few hours, or trying to.

Haha that screw up I don't put on Trump. Although he should've known to wait, it did seem that Roberts started before Melania was in position (and less importantly, all of Trump's "wait, are we characters in succession?" kids). Roberts also screwed up Obama's oath in 2009.

Now you've quit talking and gone to lying.

It's known why. Roberts was a bit faster than planned and Melania had trouble with the Bibles (she had two).

You also are well aware of the multiple Presidents who didn't use a Bible... Last time I looked, they were still sworn in.

He did mention "Our God" yesterday.

I assume he was referring to the God of America that we all trust.

SCOTUS affirmed birth right citizenship in 1898. I wonder if it will revisit it.

                                I’ll start:

“For Trump so loved himself that he gave his one and only stream of tweets, that whoever retweets him shall not perish but have eternal praise.”

I doubt he goes to church. I doubt he reads the Bible. But I wouldn't be surprised if he has a vague belief in this Christian God people keep talking about.

Agreed. Believers come in all levels of proficiency, and Lord (literally) knows I am not terribly fluent in scripture. If I can be immune from judgement... Trump seems like he checks most of the 7 deadly sins boxes and probably couldn't name a verse or more than 10 books of the bible.

I think it should go both ways. If people are going to "bash" President Biden for pretending to be a Catholic, then it is only fair that the same people "bash" President Trump for pretending to be a Christian.

Anybody can become a Christian at any moment of any day, that is their choice. Maybe an assassin's bullet through the earlobe during an historic presidential run which he eventually won, could be a reasonable case for thinking that maybe, just maybe, Trump is a real Christian, if not a particularly practicing one.

Not to say that Trump is a Christian, therefore God saved him. Just that Trump might have good reason to believe.

Well, if nothing else, Trump, to the detriment of all things earthly and spiritually, believes in his own grand destiny and reminds us so every goddamned minute of the solar day.
