The ‘man did California authorities screw the pooch’ thread

My understanding is:
Insurers proposed higher rates to cover elevated risk.
CA denied the increases.
Insurance Cos canceled plans, left state
CA ‘FAIR’ policy of last resort took over.
It’s totally insolvent.
The following I’m less sure about but it is my current understanding:
The law says that if the FAIR plan goes insolvent, existing insurers are required to bail it out.
The remaining insurers are likely to leave the state altogether rather than do that.

By the way Florida has a similar situation.

Honestly I saw libs of TikTok post this and I’m like, so what? They’re women.
Are they unqualified? Then say it and describe why. Are they doing stupid shit? Then tell me about that.
But don’t just assume I’ll surmise that because they’re women.
Oh they’re butch dykes? Honestly as women firefighters go that’s probably the ideal subset to recruit from.
One commenter said ‘I’d like to see them do [some physical task]. Well I have news for you, the leadership of one of the largest fire departments in the country doesn’t have that as part of their job description. Also I have no idea who that commenter was but I’ll bet the chick on the right could take him.

Well, they state that DEI was the department’s number one priority. Not, you know, putting out fires.

Re @George-K question, moved to the appropriate thread.
My understanding is they didn’t fill the reservoirs because some fish in Northern California might have taken offense. Ok more like environmental rules stymied the diversion of water away from its historic path to the pacific.

How does the normal person get to that point? In fire departments, by rising through the ranks.
Think any of those gals could roll hose or pack 200 pounds of deadweight like a man?
