My understanding is:
Insurers proposed higher rates to cover elevated risk.
CA denied the increases.
Insurance Cos canceled plans, left state
CA ‘FAIR’ policy of last resort took over.
It’s totally insolvent.
The following I’m less sure about but it is my current understanding:
The law says that if the FAIR plan goes insolvent, existing insurers are required to bail it out.
The remaining insurers are likely to leave the state altogether rather than do that.

My understanding is they didn’t fill the reservoirs because some fish in Northern California might have taken offense. Ok more like environmental rules stymied the diversion of water away from its historic path to the pacific.

I really doubt that. Everyone knows CA has massive exposure to wildfires.
I mean sure, can you find some twitter rando mocking him? But of his three hour interview, I doubt many people chose his comments on the potential for CA wildfires to mock.

How does the normal person get to that point? In fire departments, by rising through the ranks.
Think any of those gals could roll hose or pack 200 pounds of deadweight like a man?
