I’m glad that people on the left are back to supporting freedom of speech. It’s a nice change after the last 16 years.
It's nice to see that a "journalist" can advocate the judicial murder of people suffering from mental illness, but the FFC is more concerned with silencing that monstrous threat to democracy Jimmy Kimmel for making jokes they don't like.

God, I wish I could distinguish between 'edit' and 'reply' in my excitement

I’m pretty sure that I was the one to point the asshat out and call for his firing. And many conservatives are very outspoken about the administration crossing freedom of speech lines…

Right, and where have I, a self-proclaimed member of the rational left, called for censorship of anybody's freedom of speech in the last 16 years?
It's not you or me that's the problem here.

Disney pulled Kimmel's show just now, over comments he made Monday about how "maga was desperate to avoid admitting the obvious, that the assassin was one of their own".
Yep pendulum is swinging too far. Pretty sure tribal idiocy is protected. Almost every leftist punditry show in the world has similar delusions about the shooter. That's protected. Though of course Disney is free to do whatever they want.

As for Kimmel, the theory that the shooter is Maga, is crazy enough that a reasonable analogy would have been to blame the jews. It was crazy as of the Monday night taping in question.

She would have imagine because there’s no evidence that there was any.
I’m old enough to remember 2018 and it was definitely an environment where a major tv broadcaster would fire someone comparing a prominent black woman to an ape. Even without any government intervention.
Also, can anyone really imagine the Trump administration pressuring ABC to fire her? Over a tweet about Valerie Jarret?
ABC canceled her show the same day as her tweet. My guess is the only calls they received in the interim were from Proctor & Gamble and Anheiser Busch.

Hang on a minute, my Google seems to be acting up. Who exactly was President in 2018?

I since edited the post. @Doctor-Phibes

What I find funny is the administration at the time would have been Trump…
But there has been plenty enough examples over the years from the left that I find the pearl clutching disingenuous and a little amusing.

It would be ruled unconstitutional after it got to SCOTUS anyway. Which I expect it would, in very short order.

Seems like the President and FCC chair threatening to pull their broadcast license is new, and relevant. Especially from a president who has made it clear he doesn’t believe in free speech at all.
