Fortunately it was a Mitsubishi with Vermont plates. How many of those could there be in the Avis garage in Atlanta? It’s also conceivable I could get a friend to walk through the garage and find it.
Though, to Horace’s point, they should have a procedure for this. With millions of rentals per year this has to happen now and then.

I remember when we were building the systems for Nation/Alamo, they wanted to have an automated return system with a device in the car that we could detect when the vehicle was returned.
So the car would be checked-in just by driving onto the lot.
When I first heard about it I said the renter could just throw the device over the fence and then keep the car. I forget whether they ever implemented that.

The screenshot of the metadata is a good idea.

I can prove I was at the airport, as I took my flight. But they are the ones who can prove I returned it with video and the presence of the car in the garage.
It's pretty much impossible to get a car out of that garage without showing papers to the attendant. And they did check to see if there was an activity on the vehicle, and there wasn't.

Fucking Chinese spies.
Why yes, that’s exactly what he was doing.

I just don't understand why anybody would go to the trouble of impersonating jon to board a plane in Atlanta, only to leave a rental car in the parking lot somewhere the rental company won't find it. Only one thing is certain, for now. Whatever this is, is huge, and terrifying.

@Horace Sounds like something for a true crime show.
Maybe we should start a podcast about the "Mystery of the Atlanta Rental Car"
Maybe Jon will consent to being interviewed. Unless he has something to hide.
