Logistically speaking, he may have to.

BTW, go back and look at what was done in the 1950's. Won't be the first time we've deported a million people. And looking at population then vs. now, that would be what today, two or three million?

I have a simple brain. While I have no problem with the general idea of enforcing the law and removing people here illegally (I've always said, if I snuck into Italy or Chile or somewhere... I'd know there is a risk I would be removed if found out). That being said, I feel like it's better (economically and morally) to provide a mass "expedited immigration" process for those already here... process them, pay fines, set them up as tax payers, etc. While at the same time shutting down the border (and perhaps expanding the immigration office to enable more to come in... legally).

Try that argument with the judge on any law you break.

They've already said the deportations will start with the 600,000 illegals with known criminal records. That, by itself, will take awhile. Hopefully, as these folks are being sent back, many will choose to self-deport.

Immigration law is going to be a big deal. Look at the current Canadian mess. We need to go back to controlled immigration, looking at needed skills and stop some of the extended family migration. We also need to implement a guest worker program, where people can be issued temporary work permits of varying length, depending on need...That program needs to be efficient and easily accomplished by the applicant.

Here’s what you’re going to see in the news, though… Not the 24 year old gang member that’s selling Fentanyl out of an ice cream truck, but the 8-month old anchor baby. The story will be about the baby being forced to be separated from the hard working father that runs his own ice cream business, or the baby will be forced to go to an unfamiliar country in horrible conditions…

And that propaganda will work really, really well on the minds of the online left, and maybe not so well on everybody else. It'll cause them to self-isolate even more, convinced that they are good and anybody who disagrees is evil. That ultimately works to the advantage of Maga in the electorate. Nobody likes self-righteous scolds.

Don't forget those that work on farms.

And just to be perfectly clear, many immigrants (legal or illegal) work 1000x harder than I do. I sit at a computer and turn on a fan if I get too warm.

If this was an easy problem to solve, it would have been solved by one side or the other by now. I don't think it's going to be, whatever Trump claims.

Like cutting the deficit, this is a lot simpler when it's somebody else's job.

As I have stated before, I am a fan of LEGAL immigration, not illegal.

But, if these deportations go through, there will be some (unintended) consequences

increase in grocery prices, especially in vegetables, fruits, etc.
                        increase in dining out prices
chance of house construction and repairs going up
                        etc.

I have been assured by my Democrat Congressmen that if we eliminate slavery stop this immigration, no one will pick the cotton be do the jobs no one wants to do.

                                  @taiwan_girl there’s a problem with your supposition.

If we removed every single one of the over 10,000,000 illegal immigrants that entered the country over the last 4 years, we would still have more laborers (documented and undocumented) than we had in 2019, when produce prices and contracted labor rates were considered quite low. While an inflationary jump would still be expected, there’s still an excess of day labor.

Beyond that, a significant number of the undocumented workers on farms are actually documented through the H-2A. There are plans to expand the H-2A program as necessary.

Well, we may find out. I would still estimate that more than 50% of people who hand pick crops in the field are illegal.

I would also estimate that greater than 50% of the typical Chinese buffet restaurant staff, which you see in pretty much every US town, is staffed by illegals. I also estimate that a lot of the waitstaff and servers do not work for any salary but just make their money in tips. The owner has a house nearby with multiple bedrooms where the staff stays. Usually 12 hour shifts, with one day off per week.

There you go. If you do nothing you get nothing but worse.
