Fear not, it only gets crazier. Just ask @89th.
Hey LW! Yes I have a 6, 3, and 1 year old right now.
Potty training depends on the child. Our first got it right away, we dedicated to it one weekend and gave an M&M to her every 15 min when we made her sit on the potty. When not on the potty, we kept her naked (with puppy pads when she sat down). Had one accident, but otherwise she got it fast.
BUT... then the 2nd child, a boy. Same approach (once we start potty training, it's 24/7 except diapers at night, until they get it). He learned to pee after a day or two, but going poop was one of the hardest weeks of my life. When he had to go he would run around screaming in a panic for an hour (think about that... like he was on fire), until it eventually popped out while literally holding him on the toilet. But after a week, he was trained LOL. So, each kid is different....
One thing they don't tell you in the parent manual... once the kid is potty trained, all that means is now you get to go to the bathroom anytime you need to AND anytime they need to!
Such is parent life... the hardest and most exhausting job, but also the most rewarding. What a paradox. Sounds like you're doing a great job!!!!

@89th thanks! We're not sweating the accidents. It's funny and equally annoying. I think we'll try the naked for a weekend trick too. He's doing well overall but that might help. Last night he ran around like he was on fire too, and we knew it was because he was afraid to poop on the potty. We hung out in the bathroom reading, trying all the things we normally do, but nothing until he had the safety of his undies adults are generally potty trained so we know he'll get it soon. Maybe a diaper hung in the potty would be good enticement. I think I'll try that.

Boys seem to be MUCH harder, good luck. Just remember...this too shall pass. No pun intended!
(BTW I do recall sitting next to him as he was on the toilet freaking out searching youtube for cartoon poop songs... that actually helped keep him on the potty until nature released...)

So cool to see you here. Welcome to parenthood. Iām in the part where it gets easier physically and logistically.
Yeah, but that's the scary part in that you lose more control. I won't always know where he is at that age I am looking forward to having conversations with him and going more places. Learning what his interests are. Yeah, it's going to be a good time. For now I love watching him at the playground and laugh at poop with him.

I'm definitely out of my element with the new tech here.
LOL.
Remember "No hot linking?"
Remember ImageShack, Photobucket?
So much better here. @Klaus has done a great job finding this software and setting up and maintaining.

How old is he again?
Every age brings pros and cons, mostly pros... I found the ages 3 and 4 to be the best, if I had to pick. Old enough to learn things and talk, even ride a scooter, but not old enough to be in school yet.

@LW good to have you here! Don't worry, the human race generally has very high success rates for potty training. The adult population is estimated to only have 1.5% to 3% continuing to experience nocturnal enuresis [cite]. The odds are heavily in your favor!
@Rich congratulations on becoming a grandparent!
