If I had to describe you in one word, it would be “unpablolike”.

8 years is great! Here's to many more years of a functioning lung!

In the context of your post, I was looking something up related to lung transplants and stumbled upon this study.

Do you have an explanation for the differences in outcome reported in the study? Their reasoning about universal health care and stuff seems a little superficial.

            Happy anniversary!
Looking back, how do you feel about it?
            What's ahead?

              I don’t. A few comments:

              1. They don’t compare Socio-economic status. That correlates decently with compliance with medical directives over the long term, such as taking your meds on time.

              2. They mention tacrolimus not being approved for lung transplant until 2021. That’s technically true (it was approved 3 years ago today, my 5 year transplant anniversary, based not on a study but on ‘real world evidence’) but it was used off label for many years prior to that. The drug (FK506) was pioneered in Pittsburgh for liver transplants and is used for most if not all solid organ transplants in the US.

              3. I think there’s something to be said about the formal follow-up period that CMS, the payor behind Medicare, has implemented. They judge centers on 1 year outcomes. What if they measured and published 5 year outcomes? I suspect they’d improve.

              Only non-witches get due process.

And don’t forget, it’s North America minus Canada. You can expect that much excess mortality from a random drug addled AR-15 wiping them out.

Congratulations, Jon. Glad you're still here. I wish you a long, healthy, prosperous life.

Only reason I said anything the other day is because an otherwise intelligent, politically astute man should know better than to giggle in delight at the near assassination of a former president and wish him dead via heart attack.

                  Let’s move on from that.

Congrats on the milestone, Jon. There was a thread at the forum across the way a while back... Along the lines of 'Where do you see yourself/or hope to be in 'x' years?' Waiting for the transplant you answered "Not just alive to see the boy, but to be able to have an active part of part of his life!"

Great for you both, you've been able to meet that goal. To many more lungiversaries!
