A couple of important dates: July 19th the DNC Rules committee meets ahead of virtual roll call to get the nomination onto the Ohio Ballot.
July 21st - The DNC Convention Leadership has a virtual meeting.
The roll call itself has not been scheduled, I believe, but will likely need to be taken prior to the 26th to ensure that it’s on the Ohio Ballot before the deadline.

He doesn’t.
UnfortunatelyFortunately.FIFY.
I think you're right about The Resident. As pointed out, he has a hammerlock on the delegates and the nomination is his to accept or refuse, no matter what his party, the press or the public thinks.
As of now, I'm thinking the only way to take him off the ticket is the 25th.
Now, the nefarious critter in me wonders if maybe they didn't sabotage his drug cocktail before the debate and maybe the current press campaign (along with high profile party people like Obama knifing him from the shadows) had a two-fold objective:
- Make Biden appear to be a doddering, senile old man to the public, and create pressure to make him give up the nomination. Or...
- If he won't quit, create the narrative that he must be removed for the good of the country, thereby laying the groundwork for the 25th.

It will be awfully difficult to pose as the guardians of democracy if they force him out. Trump will make HUGE hay out of that.
They simply can not go forward as they are now, and I don’t see them healing that rift if Biden is the candidate. At this point they have to be focused on closing ranks on their Senate candidates and House seats.

But watching Trump playing the “Protect Democracy” card will also be hilarious.

And he'll have a very good case to claim it, handed to him on a silver platter.

I think Biden remains the candidate.
I could be wrong, but I can't think of any realistic replacement candidate that gets added that'll do better than Biden. I do admit my election prediction confidence has dropped since the Resident has wandered into the hallway without his meds. (Kidding, we know he was old AF and I was very surprised they would ever let him debate... it backfired exactly as we expected)

Donors just froze $90,000,000 so long as he remains the candidate…https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/07/12/us/biden-trump-election

I originally thought they always planned to have him retire at the convention (from the campaign), but the Ohio flub has moved the timetable up. Then I thought at the Virtual Roll Call…
Now? My bet is next Wednesday, the 17th, voluntary, and Kamala will be the VP candidate.

It’s steamrolling. The Sunday morning news/gossip shows will likely be the crescendo.

Shit’s getting real. The most blatant example of big money donors dictating elections and the left views it as a necessary and heroic act. Beautiful.
