Inexpensive suits?
-
Son (24) of my high school buddy is asking where he can get an inexpensive suit in the 100-200 range.
Anyone have ideas?

When I needed one in a hurry for a funeral I just went to Kohl's. It did the job. I wasn't going to make the front page of any magazines, but I also wasn't going to get singled out for being the disrespectful scruffy bastard. If he's going to wear it regularly it would be worth spending more IMHO.

I use Men's Warehouse on sale for inexpensive stuff.

Kohl’s is fine and convenient.

Great. I don’t know if he has an occasion in mind I suspect he just wants to have an all-purpose suit for an interview, wedding, or funeral.

Try Macy’s (or establishments like it). My observation has been that, if one opts for polyester (or blends thereof) rather than wool, one stands a good chance of getting a suit economically.
Yeap, just saw @LuFins-Dad’s reply above, Kohl’s will work too.

If the kid is an average build, I’d go to a high end consignment store. Then straight to a tailor.
I agree. Someone once told me something like: A good thrift store suit costing USD$100 with $100 of alterations is better than a USD$200 suit direct from off the rack.

The best part of Kohls? Buy a “$800” (wink) suit for 80% offs and they will give you $80 in Kohls Cash to purchase “$200” (wink) shoes for free!

Yes, it's an entertaining business model. My son worked for them for a while unloading the trucks, so got even more off the "reduced" items. I have to say those guys work bloody hard for not that much money.

That's just the pants.
That's the important part.
Depends on what he's interviewing for...
