Through my eclipse glasses with the iPhone, I should be able to see the eclipse we'll only be around 80%

I wonder if that is true? Like... will you see the "diamond ring" and have the black-out experience of totality? Sincere question, I've only seen it at like 80% (Syracuse in 2017) and people walking around had no idea since it was just as bright out.
