"Gay not Queer"
-
Growing up my friends and I would play the game “smear the queer”. As a kid, it was just the name of the game (you run with a ball and try not to get tackled, if you are, you throw the ball up and the next person to catch it has to run away until tackled)
Anyway my parents would often say we shouldn’t use the name Smear the Queer. As I got older I understood why. Getting tackled by other boys and fighting for ball is super GEIGH.

Wait, is it homophobia Thursday again already?

@Horace said in "Gay not Queer":
This place is extremely disappointing with all the homophobia and racism.
You sneer, however there's nothing quite like watching a bunch of middle aged heterosexual white guys sit around talking about race, sexuality and the problems with young people today. It's bordering on Pythonesque.
My apologies if I'm expressing a non-consensus opinion, I may have missed the meeting where we all get together to decide what the groupthinks.

Some people tolerate perverts better than others.
But virtue is its own reward.
Spoken like a true Boston Catholic.

@Doctor-Phibes I’ve been the target of death threats for my reporting here.

Yeah, bitching against prepubescent girls having mastectomies and boys and girls being prescribed chemical castration drugs is totally the same thing as bitching that the Beatles needed a haircut.

Oh, is that what this thread was doing?
Don't you find it obnoxious when people refer to all gay folk as 'perverts'?
Maybe I don't fit in here any more. Joking aside, I'm getting a little fucking sick of it.

Perverts?
Interesting characterization. When I was a lad, that's the category in which the general public viewed homosexuals. Over time, the public has become much more accepting. Personally, I don't think it's a good lifestyle decision, but it's their life and y'all live it as y'all see fit.
But I don't see it as a societal norm that should be celebrated or promoted.
The problem has come from people in that community accepting and vigorously promoting more and more destructive lifestyles that aren't good for society. I think that anything that undermines a monogamous, heterosexual marriage is bad for society. I think the normalization of transvestites is bad for society. I think the vociferous and open recruitment of young people to view homosexuals and lesbians as just another societal norm is harmful to society. I think the coercion of young people to become gay is bad for society.
And I think the current gender-fluid movement and drive to medically intervene into what constitutes male and female in children and teenagers is beyond perversion, I think it criminal and worthy of time in prison. The movement and mass hysteria are bad for society, with horrific, irreversible consequences for the individual.
We've come a very long way, in a very short time, from "Live and let live".

I haven't. That's how I feel about it.
The fact that there are activists pushing a harmful agenda is one thing. Demonizing homosexuals en masse as 'perverts' is something else. Obviously, Copper is trolling for attention when he does this, and I'm probably giving it to him by complaining about it, but I've got friends and loved ones who are gay, as I'm sure others here have, and I get sick of the bullshit.
I think that anything that undermines a monogamous, heterosexual marriage is bad for society.
And expecting homosexuals to have a monogamous, heterosexual marriage is just plain dumb. You clearly don't want them to marry one another. You'd rather they just hide in the background so we don't have to think about them?
-
The word 'odd' also has multiple meanings. Not divisible by two, for example. Is that why people don't want gay marriage - mathematical incongruity?
Well, there goes the weekend.

Like you I find the demonising obnoxious as well. You are also right in calling out the snark for what it is. I certainly do not see it as feeding the troll.

When others have taken a topic more seriously than you because they have personal experience with it and you don't, you've found their reaction funny.
-
I don’t think it’s trolling. Copper has been consistent in his views from day one. I have not heard him call for any sort of punishment or isolation of the practitioners.
I do find it interesting that much of the gay community wishes to distance itself from people they view with the same disdain they were once viewed with and fought against for decades.
Drag is a centuries, maybe millennia, old entertainment, but I think it should be for adults, not children.
I myself have great disdain for the transsexual fantasies being sold to our children, and with those who wish to normalize pedophilia.

I am the same. I think (at least in my mind) that I am one of the most non-judgmental people. People are different. That is what makes the world interesting.
But I don't see ....... .......... that should be celebrated or promoted.
I (mostly) agree with it. I don't want to see two heterosexual people walking almost naked down the street or almost having sex in public. I don't want to see two homosexual people doing it either.
I remember way back that I attended the Gay Pride parade in Chicago. Some of the costumes, attire, etc. were kind of embarrassing for me to see.
