I don't know about you, but I'd have been perfectly happy with this version:
"In response to a resident defecating in the pool. the pool will be closed for an estimated two weeks," and then carried on with the rest of the message. -

They have to apologize for the inconvenience. It's how you get away with doing anything, it makes whatever you're doing okay. Just apologize for the inconvenience.
