Indeed.
My sense of it is that while I hate the persecution Trump encountered, I still don't want him back in office. I suspect a whole lot of other people feel the same way.

But can he win? I have serious doubts. If he doesn't, he's seriously damaged the party. It's time for him to go.

The only thing that matters right now is if he can/will win the GOP nomination.
One step at a time, and I can't see him upended at this point.

There is no doubt that large factions of the self righteous, bloodthirsty left, are hoping he is their opponent. The good vs evil messaging will be thick in the atmosphere, and all the usual suspects will take their opportunity to sneer and condemn and punish all the bad people. They also assume they will win the election.
