Hamas attacks Israel
-
Originally it was to keep them as a thorn in the side of Israel, today it's a little of that plus the fact that they don't want to import a radicalized group like Hamas and 2MM dependents. They have enough of that to deal with already.

just a short comment.
i dont know if anyone heard Bidens statement today from the WH. worth a listen.
people here were deeply moved.
time for bed for me, i follow the thread but not always up to commenting, the depth of the tragedy is still sinking in -

There is a solution. At least in some part.
Think Carthage
I think they want to eliminate Hamas, not commit genocide on 2MM people including a million children.

Yes, but how do they do that without significant collateral damage?
I've read that half the population of Gaza is under age 17.

You forgot sowing the ground with salt.

That's kind of what Rumsfeld spoke of when he was pondering the impact of our intervention in Afghanistan - i.e. sowing seeds of the next generation's combatants/martyrs for the cause.

Seriously, if the problem could be solved by eradicating them, all the way down to the beasts in the field, I'd flick the switch. Israel can invade, they can kill thousands, they can turn the majority of buildings into rubble.
It won't fix this problem.
The only time a faction hasn't taken up the sword, is when that faction no longer exists.
Maybe the only solution is the Second Coming.

I hope you and your family can stay safe - I’ve been thinking of you throughout this awful tragedy.

I wonder what percentage of Americans would favor a genocidal solution. And, of those, I wonder what percentage go to church on Sundays.
-
I doubt any of them go to church on Sundays.

Appeasement leads to the exact same outcome and some other crap besides.

The OT is part of the Bible. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to break it. While we do live in an Age of Grace, that doesn't mean that the God of the OT is not the God of the NT. There is more than one instance in the OT where God has allowed the Jews to kill their enemies, even unto the beasts of the field.
Might want to spend a little time reading the Bible.

OT God also found it necessary to see the Kingdom of Israel broken and scattered with many taken into slavery on more than one occasion. So I’m going to cast my eyes to the NT, for direction.
