Yes, I dont see how Rep. Jordan can win. As one of the reps. said, voting for him is rewarding the very few few R. representatives who voted to remove Rep. McCarthy.

The House is allowed to decide how the speaker election is held, according to House Practice, so changing the threshold is an option on the table.
In fact, there have been two plurality elections to decide the House speaker in American history.

I don't it is equivalent to death threats but it is pretty low to do something like that to a spouse.
Of course, there is no proof or evidence of who was doing the message to Mrs. Bacon.

I think they’ll end up giving full speaker power to the pro-tem guy, without actually electing him speaker.
It’s sort of like the budget, they can’t pass one, so they do ‘continuing resolutions’. Now they bring that concept to house leadership itself.

McCarthy was close to and appointed that pro-tem guy, so it will be a lot like a continuance of McCarthy's speakership. And once given power, the pro-tem guy may have even freer rein to compromise with the Dems because he's not gunning for real Speakership and thus not as beholden to the moron caucus.
