The stalemate, now in its second week, has thrown the House into chaos, grinding all other business to a halt.
It’s a national embarrassment.
Once this is resolved, I would expect the House to implement a mechanism whereby this is prevented.
Perhaps giving the Speaker Pro Tem authorities that the Speaker has for a limited time.

Jordan won 124 votes against his rival in the race, Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., who won 81.
After the first ballot, Jordan called for a second round in which lawmakers were asked whether they will support Jordan on the House floor.
He managed to win 152 votes on that round, but 55 Republicans still said they would vote against him. A GOP candidate for speaker would need to reach 217 votes to win a House-wide vote with no Democratic support.

Yes, I dont see how Rep. Jordan can win. As one of the reps. said, voting for him is rewarding the very few few R. representatives who voted to remove Rep. McCarthy.

That would be letting the terrorists win.

...Jordan does not necessarily need to get the required House majority to take the gavel. The House has elected a speaker a few times in history on a plurality rather than an outright majority.
The House is allowed to decide how the speaker election is held, according to House Practice, so changing the threshold is an option on the table.
In fact, there have been two plurality elections to decide the House speaker in American history.

Is that like "death threats" and their usefulness in the social discussion?
I don't it is equivalent to death threats but it is pretty low to do something like that to a spouse.
Of course, there is no proof or evidence of who was doing the message to Mrs. Bacon.

I think they’ll end up giving full speaker power to the pro-tem guy, without actually electing him speaker.
It’s sort of like the budget, they can’t pass one, so they do ‘continuing resolutions’. Now they bring that concept to house leadership itself.
