I think that the US is better than it was 50 years ago, and 25 years ago
Brava!
And I can prove that about the US being better. My new washing machine has this little row of listed phases within the wash cycle, and when each phase is washing, a light goes on below the phase! In bright green! So you always know where the machine is at! If that isn't an improvement in US life, I don't know what is.
That’s nothing. Our plays a little patriotic song when done. Not sure why the South Koreans thought that would be important

Wait until it breaks and you have to fix it.

Thomas Sowell, famous economist who happens to be black, and who just turned 90(!), stated:
" “If the election goes to [Joe] Biden, there’s a good chance that the Democrats will control [Congress] and considering the kinds of things that they’re proposing, that could well be the point of no return for this country.”
When a black, genius-level IQ who has seen it all over a good part of a century has such concerns, people should listen.

@Rainman Boy howdy. He's written quite a lot, Rainman. Including this: Basic Economics: A citizen's guide to economics, written for those who want to understand how the economy works but have no interest in jargon or equations. Sowell explains the general principles underlying different economic systems: capitalist, socialist, feudal, and so on. In readable language, he shows how to critique economic policies in terms of the incentives they create, rather than the goals they proclaim. . . . This is the first book for anyone who wishes to understand how the economy functions."

Hasn't anyone told him to be optimistic, because everything is the same and nothing ever changes?.....

@Larry said in Trump commutes Roger Stone’s sentence:
You are making an assumption that past performance is indicative of future performance.
She has done nothing of the kind. That is your inaccurate interpretation.
She merely points out that there are plenty of examples of past political behavior, patterns, that are worth thinking about when we are speculating upon future possibilities. That's all -- a fairly innocuous observation. And at no point does she say nothing changes.
Your rigid dogmatism -- which never yields a single point -- insists on wrongfully telling her what she said, despite that she, not for the first time, comes back and tries to clarify her meaning.

- Yes she has.
- No she hasn't, she has done just the opposite. She has called what I've said just plain false, and refused to move off her position that everything equals out, nothing changes. That is what is false.
- One doesn't have to make the literal statement "nothing changes" when everything you do say is based on the argument that nothing changes.
- I'm not dogmatic, if you even know what the word means. And I have yielded quite a few points. You even agreed with this point that you're accusing me of being dogmatic about when Thomas So well made the same fucking point in another thread.
- You can't find your own ass anyway, and never could. So get off mine.

Well, there's the No Surprises Here Post of the Year. I figured you'd come back just as you did. I had no hope of eliciting a change from you; I was defending TG, whose own graciousness probably does not permit her to realize that you don't play fair.
So let me get this straight. You're miffed because she refuses to move off her position? As you are so fond of saying, BWAAA-HA-HA-HA!

Where is that quote from, Rainman?

You don't need to defend TG from me. She and I have known each other and been friends a lot longer than you've been around to play Karen. So here's what you do - go make me a sammich, and get back to your laundry.

Color me surprised that National Review opposed the commutation.
