Hey 89th
-
@89th They renamed Ashby, Jackson, and Maury halls.
-
@Aqua-Letifer @89th I forgot that you went to JMU! That’s one of Luke’s finalists...

A protester is arrested. For something; it doesn't matter what. He is processed and tossed in a cell.
Protester: "Hey! What about my phone call?"
Guard: "What phone call? We did away with phone calls. Law enforcement cutbacks, you know.
Protester: "Where's my public defender?"
Guard: "Public defender? Son, you don't get a public defender. We did away with those, too. Awful money burners, they were."
Protester: "I have the right to a legal defense!"
Guard: "Not anymore. And before you ask, you don't get a bail hearing, either. You're my guest until your actual trial."
Protester: "You can't do that!
Guard: "Can. Did."
Protester: "I have rights!"
Guard: (Laughs.)
Protester: "Well, when's my trial?"
Guard: "Couldn't say. Eight, ten months. Maybe a year."
Protester: "But -- but -- but --
Guard: "You're getting a taste of criminal prosecution in much of the rest of the world, boy. Y'all pitched statues right and left until you got it. How do you like it so far?"
Protester: "I want everything to go back the way it was!"
Guard: "Tell you what. Get your pals to fish the Columbus statue out of the Inner Harbor and put it back on its pedestal, and I'll put in a good word for you. How's that?"
Protester: "They won't do that. It would violate their principles."
Guard: "Then it's tough noogies for you, Sunny Jim. Eat your oatmeal. You'll feel better."

@Aqua-Letifer Saw that. My immediate thought was "Ok, but leave the slave owner's name on the school, cool that makes sense." And yes, I've visited the slave quarters at James Madison's Montpelier. All of this is so dumb. Heck, Ashby was killed right next to where we used to live in Sunchase, @Aqua-Letifer ! Literally within a few hundred yards.
@LuFins-Dad That is great! Go Luke!
@jon-nyc I agree the chances are technically higher with Trump in office, but I'd have to put the odds of them changing the name from James Madison to something else around 0.01%. If we truly move into the retroactive judgement of even our founding fathers and early Presidents, I think our country is unofficially done.

@89th You're far more optimistic than I am. I give it a 40% chance they change the name in the next 5 years.
