I was asked to come speak at The George Washington University regarding just what the hell it is I think I do for a living. So we talked about Tron, goldfish and what to look for when you're buying juggling materials.
Pretty fun, actually. They said—kid you not—it was the best talk they had and that I should apply to work there full-time. Which I thought was mighty cool of them.
Especially when you consider the fact that had I applied to go to The George Washington University as an undergrad, they'd have laughed at my credentials and they would have been right to do so.
(I almost missed it, though, because of freaking Biden, if you can believe it. They closed off the street for about a half hour when Marine 1 took off. I had to jump out of the car, grab a rent-a-bike, download the app, put money on the thing and then hammer it the last mile.)

That's awesome! What was the job they wanted you to take with them?

Oh, a professor. The kind of writing I do isn't really taught at the school, which the students thought was kind of a bummer. That's why they asked me to come in as part of some kind of annual association conference. They think I should try to convince the school to hire me full-time and create a course around it. Which was very nice of them to say, but I gave during my master's.

You were born to do that, Aqua. Spread the good word.

I just remembered....
About a year after I left the university, I was asked to return to give a Friday morning lecture to the residents about what to look for in a private practice job.
It was a lot of fun - I had 45 minutes, and only about 10 minutes of prepared questions. The rest of the time was spent as a Q & A.

I mean, think about it…People’s student loan money was used to listen to Aqua for a couple of hours… Maybe we should forgive part of that…

What I have heard from Aqua since 2005 SO overrides the bullshit I heard from 90% of my professors in college.

...Yes.
Correct.
How to put this...
If people pay to hear mine and not yours, that's a mark against you, not me.
The kids are lucky you're not teachin' Math.

For Phibes maybe. We don't call it "Maths" here in American university programs. We call it "Numerology Studies."

Do it, Aqua! Sign up for this gig, and make some good writers out of the lumps of clay sitting in their chairs. Mold their minds.
