I congratulate ‘ol Tom on his retirement from football.

45 years may be “old” for American football but barely middle age for human life. Maybe he’ll spend more time with this family, volunteer, do philanthropy, do community service, coach youth football teams, advocate for the less fortunate, take adult education classes, go on spiritual quests, explore other gender identities, whatever makes him feel more fulfilled.

The man and team were investigated, evidence compiled, presented to the commissioner, who summarily destroyed every bit of evidence, issued the harshest penalty in league history, and refuses to reveal what was on the tapes.

      Yeah, GOAT.

From Sports Illustrated: " . . . before committing to a football career, Brady once considered a career in baseball. He was drafted in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB draft as a catcher by the Montreal Expos, who relocated to Washington in 2004 and became the Nationals."

Probably the most famous is Elway. He really teetered between pro baseball and pro football. Archie Manning was a high baseball draft choice.

Russell Wilson was drafted and played a couple of years of minor league ball, never making it to the bigs.

Smarts and athletic talent translate to multiple sports.

Anywhere there are rules and regulations around fair play which everybody else follows, Tom Brady will excel.

I’m sure that he would have eventually found his way to Houston in the MLB….On another note, yeah, Brady made the better choice at the time.

He was drafted in the 6th round by the Patriots. A 6th round QB projects to be a decent backup. Obviously, Brady surpassed that, but that’s the expectation. Being drafted in the 18th round of the MLB draft points towards the minor leagues. Backup QB at NFL level > Pitcher at AA Baseball…

I do wonder about the QB of the Arizona Cardinals. He was projected to become a pitcher in the Bigs, and that’s a far better paying gig.

The best I can remember was Bo Jackson.
