    @LuFins-Dad they broke the windows nearby, and those who got in were able to open the doors from inside. If you haven’t seen videos of this I can find some clips.

    I’d be curious to see those. I was under the impression the doors were unlocked. I remember one video where a cop was standing by while trespassers walked through an open door.

      It was a simple risk/reward scenario.

      What if the coup had succeeded?

      Our southern border would be intact, all those illegals would be home building their own country instead of trashing ours.

      The war in Ukraine would be over.

      Tucker Carlson would be VP.

      We wouldn't have to worry about presidential elections anymore.

      It was a high stakes game. He took the big risk and lost.

      @Copper

      The war in Ukraine would be over.

      Indeed, there would be no sovereign Ukraine. Ukrainians would be henceforth known to the world again as Little Russians.

      Elbows up!

        They used a police shield to break the windows.

        Did the police break it or did they give their shield to a doofuss?

          That happened too, but also at that point the single cop wasn’t going to prevent the human wave. I’ll see if I can find a video. The baby is sleeping in my arms…honestly now sure how parents held newborns for hours without a smartphone to stay entertained.

                  What's really amazing about this is that only one person was shot.

                  It could very easily have been a bloodbath. I imagine that eventuality would have given Tucker Carlson enormous pleasure, as he could talk about the tyranny of the government.

                    Tucker has his shtick, no doubt about it. He's not always wrong. In fact, many times he's right. Same thing for Hannity.

                      When somebody always takes one side of the partisan fence it ceases to matter whether he's right or not, because you know how he's going to spin it. The same thing applies to CNN etc.

                      Sometimes the Republicans are right, sometimes the Democrats are right. Somebody who's honest should be able to acknowledge this. What Trump did prior to January 6th was flat out wrong.

                            That’s because you are emotionally captured, and thus part of the problem.

                              I used to think that the country would have been better off if they had opened fire with automatic weapons when the police barricades were first breeched.

                              My reasoning wasn’t so much wanting them all dead, rather that there should be some serious downside to attempting such a thing, besides “it probably won’t work”.

                              I no longer believe that. I think the relentless efforts of the DoJ in bringing these guys to justice - IOW the very acts that Jolly gets so riled up about- have served the same ultimate purpose without the bloodshed.

                                Yes I remember your fantasies about mowing down magats on the lawn if they breached the white house gates. It’s good that with some emotional distance and some tangible observed non lethal punishment, your bloodlust can be slaked by other means.

                                  @Horace

                                  Well it wasn’t a fantasy about the white house, it was a simple statement of fact that no one here disputed - that is, if such a mob had descended upon and breeched the whitehouse the secret service would have gone, quite literally, ballistic. To this day no one has claimed to believe otherwise.

                                  And as I indicated it wasn’t blood lust driving the desire for some kind of similar treatment of the Capitol. As I said back in 2021 and again in my previous post, it is necessary that these indoctrinated doofuses see a significant downside that will prevent similar crimes in the future. I think the diligence of the DoJ has provided that. If it were bloodlust I were trying to satisfy then clearly I would find the DoJ’s efforts lacking.

                                      I’m not sure I understand. Let’s stick with the classic momento mori and leave it at that.

                                        Thanks. I must admit to being caught off guard by the fact that the US Capitol is secured by frigging laminated glass.

                                        I also am surprised by the lack of tear gas, high pressure hoses, and other riot measures that weren’t implemented.
