The thread about the Jan 6th guy got me thinking - how many lives were ruined or at least derailed due simply to the fact that one man has a fragile ego?

Imagine if Trump had been identical in nearly every way but without such a fragile ego. Same presidency, same policies, etc, but had accepted his loss like a mensch. Or not even like a mensch - hell, he could still have blamed Covid and its economic effects rather than accept the blame himself, and still promised to run again. But imagine he stopped short of indoctrinating millions of doofuses (to use Horace’s turn of phrase).

How many people would not be facing federal charges and/or prison time? How many kids wouldn’t be visiting their dads in jail? How many families wouldn’t be experiencing the expense and stress and uncertainty of federal prosecution?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I'm more worried about the millions of lives damaged by the continued leftist indoctrination allowed for by the contagious moral panic around Trump. Hatred for him spilled over into hatred for the right in general, and it galvanized the whole culture. It's all for the worst going forward.

      Education is extremely important.

I have no obligation to participate in your framing, but I agree that it's sad for the kids of the idiots, and Trump's psychological frailties are to blame.

It was a simple risk/reward scenario.

What if the coup had succeeded?

Our southern border would be intact, all those illegals would be home building their own country instead of trashing ours.

The war in Ukraine would be over.

            Tucker Carlson would be VP.

We wouldn't have to worry about presidential elections anymore.

It was a high stakes game. He took the big risk and lost.

You know, what about all the people who were there for the rally, yet we're peaceful? Maybe the main reason the Capitol Police and Pelosi were caught with their pants down, was because these guys had never been violent...They actually had a reputation for picking up after themselves.

Even for the people who protested at the Capitol, Trump told them to protest, but to protest peacefully. Yet, that protest turned into a riot.

And yes, whether Jon will admit it or not, there were FBI elements in that riot, who may have known what some were planning. There are even allegations that some of the FBI elements helped whip the crowd up.

At the end of the day, only one person died as a direct result of the riot, Ms. Babbitt. I think some people were arrested and charged properly, I think others were arrested on the flimsiest of evidence or were vastly overcharged for the crimes they committed. And I firmly believe some of those in the DC jail were treated like they were jailed in a third world dictatorship.

Lastly, I, like a large percentage of Americans think there was absolutely something dreadfully wrong with the 2020 election.

And nobody in power, especially on the Left side of the aisle, gives a damn.

              Because Trump.

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Indeed, there would be no sovereign Ukraine. Ukrainians would be henceforth known to the world again as Little Russians.

They used a police shield to break the windows.

Did the police break it or did they give their shield to a doofuss?

Longer and better video. Around 11:00 with the door being kicked open at 13:50.

What's really amazing about this is that only one person was shot.

It could very easily have been a bloodbath. I imagine that eventuality would have given Tucker Carlson enormous pleasure, as he could talk about the tyranny of the government.

                                          I was only joking
