The Atlantic article on ChatGPT "destabilizing" white-collar work, taking over the jobs of many college educated workers -- in five years.

Five years? It's happening today. People are getting laid off due to chatGPT, right now.

      Please love yourself.

I can't find anything that wasn't behind a paywall. But here's part of the story from Chase:

          https://www.bloomberg.com/press-releases/2019-07-30/jpmorgan-chase-announces-five-year-deal-with-persado-for-ai-powered-marketing-capabilities

What they don't mention in the article was that a month ago, they also laid off a lot of their copywriters. On LinkedIn, I spoke to a couple guys on who were part of that.

          Please love yourself.

Seems clear we're at a place where most jobs are only still jobs because we haven't had time to automate them. It's no longer a lack of ability to automate, just a lack of effort and resources. Effort and resources required to automate stuff will come down fast over the coming years.

Eventually we'll be at a place where people pretend to work and employers, largely of the government variety, will pretend to pay them.

Put as much money into the stock market as possible to reap some of these efficiency benefits.

              Education is extremely important.

I work in IT. Pretty sure there is no computer program that can replace my ability to ask people with a genuinely jackassy attitude if they have tried restarting their machine.

I'm not so negative. I think it will mostly make us more productive at what we do.

I told Chat GPT to write a sales pitch just using the url of our company website.

                                This is the result:

"Welcome to QEMS, your one-stop shop for all your quality management needs. We understand that maintaining and improving quality can be a daunting task, but with our state-of-the-art software and expert consulting services, we make it easy for you to achieve your quality goals.

I would modify the crap out of it, but it does provide a reasonable base to start with. It missed a few things and I do not like the phrase "certified quality professionals" It sounds fake to me and nowhere on our site do those words exist.

I find it to be exciting technology but then, I find most technology to be exciting. Am I scared of it? Not in the least. But then, it will not replace my job. I started into AI in the infancy stage many many years ago. I got bored with the state of the technology back then and went a different path. No regrets, but it would have been nice to see billions of dollars from Mr Gates. lol

It’s very similar to what you see on consulting company websites. Complete bullshit speak littered with term of the day words. Vague as can be.

Marketing professionals were among the Golgrafrinchan people who originally populated earth in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, along with management consultants, hairdressers, and life-insurance salespeople.

The theory was that there were three kinds of people - leaders, doers and middlemen.

"Shouldn't be taken seriously" is an interestingly perfect distillation of the concept of social exclusion, or marginalization.

But I don't know who either of those last two are, off the top of my head.

                                        Education is extremely important.

@Horace in the twitter thread regarding this, there's an interesting comment. Basically, Chat GPT gathers its information from the web and other similar sources. It basically regurgitates what it reads.

"This isn’t surprising considering it pulls data from the web… You can’t search for anything from history without getting some modern woke opinion story about the topic. Meanwhile Wikipedia one of the few places that atleast gives the ability to find original sources is demonized>

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
