I voted for Trump in 2016. He tried to do what he said he would do, so I voted for him in 2020.

You want the perfect candidate and you'll lie in your deathbed still waiting for that candidate to come along.

I'm pleased with Gorsuch, Barrett and Kavanaugh. Not to mention most of the other 200-some odd appointed judges.

I thought Trump's tax cut was good policy and I think the resulting rising economic tide lifted a lot of boats, particularly in minority communities.

I think Trump got it right on border security and that would have been better on it except for Dems in Congress and their rabid opposition.

I thought the Space Force was the right move, and if done properly will cut down on the office war between the Navy and the Air Force.

I don't agree that Trump screwed up the COVID response. You know what you know when you know it. On that note, I'm willing to overlook some stuff from Biden, particularly early in his Residency.

I find it amazing that Trump's overall Presidency was a success, given the almost total opposition in the media, the absolute whoring out of the FBI and Justice, and the maniacal opposition of the Left.

I agree with that. He pleasantly surprised me. I also don’t think he did badly on Covid. We had a vaccine in nine months. As far as messaging, almost no one got that right.

I’d be curious how you might list, say, the top 5 successes and top 5 failures of his presidential term. No need to put them in order, just list 5 of each.

I think I've given you the major successes, with the exception of prison reform. I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for that. I think thumping ISIS was pretty decent, but I wouldn't put it in the top five. His eradication of a lot of Federal regulations was also an accomplishment.

      Failures?

Not killing Obamacare, although John-I-never-met-a-camera-I-didn't-like-McCain sunk that one. But the party let Trump down on that one, too. There should have been a workable bill, ready to go, to replace O-care.

Trump gets blamed for Charlottesville, but that's a media created failing. He never said what the media and Dems attributed to him. I think where he did come up short was his difficulty handling the George Floyd situation. Trump is good at being divisive and shaking things up, he's not as good at being healer-in-chief.

I think Trump failed at getting a major infrastructure bill passed. Again, the devil was in the details, and it politically was shot down by partisan bickering. Trump couldn't get the deal cut.

Lastly, a lot of people talk about the loss of American prestige and call that one of Trump's failures. Maybe so, but it's one I don't give a rat's ass about.

@Jolly When it comes to politics, biases are at the forward part.

For example, you list President Trump failures, but caveat them by saying that they were really caused by something else. However, his successes were only because of him.

I am sure that @Axe would say the same thing about President Biden. The success were due to him, failures were because of external forces.

An interesting article I read a while ago. Pretty obvious and I think that people here on this forum board are at least aware of how biases play into their perception of a candidate.

Yeah that is the problem with these exercises. The president is almost never solely responsible for things, which allows his allies room to cut him slack when necessary. At the same time, his allies have room to give him credit for anything during which he had the good fortune to preside.

          Only non-witches get due process.

              https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-senate-republican-leadership-change-warns-potential-2024-gop-candidates-against-running

Trump warns other GOP candidates against running, particularly DeSantis:
              ...
... "I don’t know if [Ron DeSantis] is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly," Trump said. "I think he would be making a mistake, I think the base would not like it — I don’t think it would be good for the party."
              ...
Trump did say that if DeSantis does run, "I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering — I know more about him than anybody — other than, perhaps, his wife."
              ...

Can't find it right now, but yesterday I saw a poll of Georgia voters.

They pick DiSantis over Trump by a 2-1 margin.

It’s pretty universal here too. I absolutely will not vote for him in the primaries. I’d have to see who the Dems offer up in the general.

Now there's a mental image that I'll never be able to erase.

                                    Thanks.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

For most people, that would not be an enjoyable experience. For Trump, I’m not so sure.

OK, that mental image just displaced the one I mentioned earlier.
